About me
I offer an empathetic, open and non-judgemental space to explore issues together and support you in working towards your goals, at your pace. I listen carefully and am guided by what is important for you. Through our sessions together, we can work towards gaining a deeper understanding of what is causing you distress or affecting you in some way and supporting you in making any choices or changes you feel will help and lead to feeling happier and more fulfilled in your life.
If you’re thinking about starting counselling, I’d be happy to arrange a free initial 15-minute telephone conversation. I can explain more about my approach and how I might be able to help. We can talk about what you hope to gain from therapy and I will answer any questions you might have. You can also get a sense of whether I might be the right therapist for you.
As examples of areas I may be able to support you with, I have previously worked with issues relating to abuse, ADHD, alcohol, anger, anxiety, bereavement, chronic illness, confidence, depression, grief, health, identity, life transitions, loneliness, loss, low mood, OCD, panic attacks, relationships, self-esteem, self-harm, stress, trauma, and worry.
If you have any questions or would like to arrange an initial conversation or a first session, please feel free to get in touch. I aim to respond promptly and will do my best to accommodate your availability.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist (MBACP), trained in person-centred therapy. My qualifications include a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Level 7, BACP accredited) and an MA in Education (I have a background in education and training).
I have also completed training in domestic abuse, sexual violence and trauma-informed counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
