About me

Emotional difficulties and painful feelings are a fact of life, but sometimes they can become so overwhelming or unmanageable that we don’t know what to do or where to turn. Sometimes we just have a feeling of something being wrong but can't articulate what that might be.

Talking to friends and family can sometimes help, but if that isn’t an option, or isn’t helping, then perhaps it is time to consider counselling or psychotherapy.

Talking to someone who can offer a fresh and non-judgemental perspective allows you to get to the root of what is troubling you, helps you understand why you sometimes act in ways that don’t help you, and facilitates the process of positive change.

As an Integrative therapist I pay attention to the mental, emotional, physical and social aspects of your experience and tailor my approach to fit you.

Through working together we will explore your current difficulties and uncover the links between your past and your present experience. This exploration will give you a deeper understanding of what you are feeling and why, and will enable you to make effective, positive and lasting change.

Training, qualifications & experience

I'm a fully qualified Psychotherapist and Counsellor and I'm a member of the BACP and adhere to their Codes of Ethics. I undertake regular supervision and am fully insured and DBS checked.

In addition to private practice I have worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist in various settings, including domestic abuse and sexual abuse charities and also mental health charities.

I currently work as a counsellor for a leading mental health charity alongside the NHS. I also work privately with clients in the UK and internationally.

I have extensive experience of working within psychiatric facilities where I've supported residents who have received a mental health diagnosis.

New research continuously informs current psychotherapeutic thinking, I develop and update my work through ongoing reading, supervision, talks and conferences.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
