About me
You may be used to being the capable one: managing responsibilities, supporting everybody else and appearing as though you are coping. Underneath, you might feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected or unsure of who you are anymore.
Perhaps something has changed. You may be adjusting to motherhood, struggling within a relationship, questioning your identity or noticing that familiar ways of coping are no longer working. You do not need to be in crisis to seek counselling. Sometimes it begins with the feeling that you cannot carry on in quite the same way.
I'm Megan, an integrative counsellor offering in-person and online counselling to adults in West Sussex and across the UK. I support people experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, loss, identity changes and challenging periods of transition.
I have a particular interest in motherhood and matrescence - the emotional and identity transition involved in becoming a mother. Motherhood can bring enormous love while also affecting your confidence, relationships, body, independence and sense of self. You may love your child deeply and still miss your old life, feel touched out, resentful, lonely or uncertain about the person you have become.
My work is not limited to mothers. I also welcome adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed by expectations, caught in repeated patterns or tired of being hard on themselves.
How I Work
My style is warm, down-to-earth and honest. I will listen carefully and give you room to speak openly without judgement. I may ask questions, share what I notice or gently challenge something when it feels helpful, but I will not tell you how to live your life.
I work integratively, drawing on person-centred therapy and transactional analysis. This means I can adapt our work to you rather than expecting you to fit one particular method.
We might explore how earlier experiences continue to shape your relationships, beliefs or responses in the present. We may notice patterns in how you relate to yourself and others, consider where some of your expectations have come from or pay attention to feelings that have been difficult to acknowledge.
Counselling is not about fixing everything immediately. It can provide space to understand yourself more fully, respond to yourself with greater compassion and make choices that feel more like your own.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified integrative counsellor and Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
My qualifications and additional training include:
• CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
• Certificate in Working with Families
• Pregnancy, Infant Loss and Infertility Practitioner training
• Further professional development in attachment, matrescence, pregnancy, loss and early parenthood
• First Class BA (Hons) Criminology
Before qualifying as a counsellor, I worked across homelessness, substance misuse and education. These roles involved supporting adults and young people through complex circumstances, relationships, emotional difficulties and significant periods of change.
These experiences have shaped my belief that people and their lives are rarely straightforward. I will not reduce you to a diagnosis, label or list of symptoms. I am interested in understanding what your experiences mean to you.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I offer in-person counselling in Storrington, West Sussex, as well as online video sessions, allowing you to access support from your own private space. Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held weekly.
Before beginning, I offer a free 15-minute introductory call. This gives you an opportunity to ask questions, briefly discuss what has brought you to counselling and decide whether working together feels right.
You do not need to prepare anything or know exactly what you want to talk about. We can begin with what feels most important and take things from there.
Online sessions are £50 for 50 minutes. In-person sessions are £60. A limited number of reduced-fee spaces may be available depending on current capacity.
