About me

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), adhering to the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, which guides my practice with its core values and principles.

As an Afro-Caribbean Black woman, I bring a deep understanding of marginalisation, racism, and the intersectionality of discrimination across gender, class, race, sexuality, and disability. My life experiences have enriched my capabilities as a therapist, allowing me to offer profound empathy and insight to my clients.

Life can be challenging, and sometimes we need support to navigate its complexities. Therapy provides a safe, secure space to work through these difficulties.

Professional Experience: I have worked for several years within the NHS in women’s services, supporting women facing anxiety, depression, mental health issues, and physical health problems. My clients have included healthcare workers, students, the unemployed, and individuals working in the Arts.

Voluntary Work: In my voluntary role, I work with clients who have faced domestic violence, anxiety, and family issues. I also support LGBTQ individuals, offering a non-judgemental space to work through their experiences and issues collaboratively.

Therapeutic Approach: My approach is Humanistic Integrative counselling, placing you at the heart of our collaborative work. The therapeutic relationship is central to my practice, and being integrative allows me to draw from various therapeutic techniques, skills, and counselling models to suit your unique needs. These include:

  • Person-Centred Therapy
  • Gestalt Therapy
  • Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Transactional Analysis (TA)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Coaching
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Together, we can work towards understanding and overcoming the challenges you face, fostering growth and resilience along the way.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
