About me

Counselling can't change what has happened to you, but it can  transform how you relate to what’s happened to you, helping you to live a life that feels happier, freer, more authentic, and generally more like you.

You may have a dawning awareness that the ways you’ve always coped just aren’t working any more. Perhaps day-to-day life feels harder to manage, leaving you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or struggling with confidence and self-esteem. The noise in your head may feel relentless: endless mental chatter, harsh self-criticism, or racing thoughts that won’t switch off, no matter how hard you try to distract yourself.

Or maybe you feel empty, flat, or disconnected in both mind and body, as if you’re on autopilot, going through the motions without really living or connecting, and sometimes catching yourself thinking is this really it?

Sometimes relationships can feel confusing or disappointing too, like something isn’t quite right, but you can’t quite put your finger on it. You might be left wondering, What just happened? What do I actually want? How do I fix this?

As a relational, attachment-focused therapist I’ll support you in really getting to know yourself, especially the parts of you that learned to stay safe by hiding pain behind a smile, being perfect, pleasing others or keeping them at arm’s length, or perhaps acting tougher than you felt inside.

We’ll explore how these old protective patterns once served you, but may now be holding you back from living the life you want to be living. Gently and at your pace, we can uncover the deeper beliefs you may hold about yourself, making room for new ways of being that honour your needs and allow the real you to emerge, in relationships, in how you treat yourself, and in the choices you make every day.

I work with people aged 14 and up, offering sessions face-to-face, online, and outdoors through walk and talk therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training and Qualifications

I bring a blend of professional training and lived experience to my work, and I’m committed to ongoing learning that helps me support each person in a way that feels safe, respectful, and attuned to their unique story.

Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling:

This core training gave me the foundations for the work I do now – how to offer a calm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever’s on your mind, at your own pace, and in a way which feels right for you.

Professional Development in Relational Integrative Psychotherapy:

This area of study continues to enrich my work by helping me to explore how our earliest relationships – especially with caregivers – can shape our unconscious expectations in all of our relationships. I support clients to notice the patterns they have developed to protect themselves and to gently explore whether those patterns are still serving them.

Level 2 Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP):

This approach helps me to understand how early experiences like trauma, neglect, or disrupted attachment can shape the way people feel about themselves, and how they connect with others.

It also means I’m an adoption-competent therapist – able to offer thoughtful, informed support to adoptive parents and to adults who were adopted as children, with full awareness of the complexities that adoption can bring.

Certificate in Understanding Autism:

This course deepened my understanding of the broad and diverse ways autism can shape someone’s experience of the world, helping me to offer a more attuned, flexible, and affirming space for autistic clients – one where there’s no need to mask, explain, or fit into someone else’s version of ‘normal’. I adapt my approach to suit you, not the other way around.

Towards a Dialectical Self Trauma Training (with Dr Gordon Barclay):

This trauma-informed approach focuses on helping clients to feel emotionally safe and resilient enough to face difficult experiences without becoming overwhelmed or disconnected. It’s about building the inner strength and support you need to begin healing.

Foundation Course in Bereavement Support (Cruse):

Grief is deeply personal, and this course helped me to develop the skills to sit alongside people as they navigate loss. I support clients in moving gently from the comfort of a loving presence to the warmth of a loving absence – without rushing or forcing the process.

Other Qualifications

2.1 Degree in English Literature and Educational Studies

Level 4 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)

Experience

As a parent carer, and as a former governor of a local school for children with complex needs, I’ve spent nearly 20 years supporting families, both one-to-one and in group settings. Over the years, this naturally led to me taking on a more active role in raising awareness around mental health in the community, including speaking at professional training events.

Through navigating the ups and downs of family life, relationships, and caring roles, I developed a deep appreciation for the impact that thoughtful, relational counselling can have. This inspired my decision to train professionally, so I could offer others the kind of support that feels grounded, respectful, and genuinely helpful.

My own experience of therapy highlighted the importance of a therapeutic space that is understanding, accepting, and emotionally safe, somewhere you can be fully seen without judgment, empowering you to explore your feelings with care and compassion. I aim to offer this kind of space in my work, supporting you to make sense of your experiences, to feel what was previously buried and to say the unsayable, ultimately reconnecting with yourself, and moving towards a way of being that feels authentic and sustainable.

If you feel ready to embark on your own voyage of self-discovery, I’d love to hear from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
