About me
I understand the challenge of finding the right counsellor. It's a brave decision to seek help for yourself, child or grandchild.
My clients have described me as calm, warm, welcoming, and approachable, putting them at ease. I am a child, young people and adult integrative counsellor specialising in 3-18-year-olds. I have experience working within the government sector, like the NHS, schools and mental health charities. I transitioned to private practice to ensure no child in need is turned away or waits too long for help. My counselling space is a safe haven, where you can feel secure and comfortable.
As an integrative counsellor, I tailor my approach to each client's unique needs, using a variety of techniques such as cognitive-behavioural therapy, play therapy, and art therapy. While my specialisation is working with children and young people, I am equally adept at working with adults. Drawing from my creative background, I incorporate play and creativity into my sessions, fostering a comfortable and engaging environment for all.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society
This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations.
In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
I offer a free twenty minute consultation.
Before our first session, I would like to have an initial assessment that will last about 60 to 90 minutes and the fee will be £60. For adult sessions only the individual will attend. With children both parents/carers and the child or young person.
I gather information of the client's background, current situation, and goals. This process helps in developing an effective treatment plan. The role of parents/carers in this assessment is to provide valuable insights into the child's life and to understand the counselling process.
A detailed exploration of the client's symptoms will be taken, including the onset, duration, and severity. The information can help identify any underlying mental health conditions.
Discuss what the client hopes to achieve through counselling and set initial goals.
Identifying the client's strengths, support systems, and resources that can be leveraged during the counselling process.
I take the safety of my clients very seriously. As part of the initial assessment, I will evaluate any immediate risks, such as self-harm or harm to others, and create a safety plan if necessary. It ensures that your child's well-being is our top priority.
We will create a tailored treatment plan based on the information gathered. This plan may include specific interventions, the frequency of sessions, and any additional resources or referrals. Your input is valuable in ensuring the plan is tailored to your or your child's needs and circumstances.

Further information
My work within the NHS primarily involved clients affected by neurodiversity and trauma. I employ various tools and techniques such as mindfulness exercises, cognitive restructuring, and narrative therapy to equip individuals with coping strategies. Notably, the sessions are not prescriptive; they can be led by the client, ensuring their needs and comfort are always prioritised.
With neurodiversity, children are often misunderstood and dismissed in the education setting and sometimes at home. To address this, I've created a practical programme that helps the child understand their unique needs and preferences, essentially making their “instruction manual”. This manual will be a reliable tool to pinpoint the child’s individual needs and triggers and show you how to help manage and regulate the child when dysregulated. By providing this practical resource, I aim to empower parents and educators, making them feel capable and confident in their roles.
We explore psychoeducation, body processing, core beliefs, each individual's unique presentation and triggers, etc. and find coping strategies to help the client and parents better manage and understand certain behaviours.
Regarding neurodiversity, many presenting concerns may persist, but they can be effectively managed. I am a firm believer in equipping individuals with coping strategies that can be used in the long term. I also believe in fostering resilience and empowering individuals to help themselves, as they inherently possess the tools. What they need is guidance, and I am here to provide it.
