About me
Are you struggling with anxiety, low mood, grief, or from the effects of trauma or abuse? Perhaps you're going through separation or divorce, and finding it hard to picture what comes next - especially as a co-parent? Whatever has brought you here, it takes courage to reach out, and I'd be glad to help.
I'm Mark, and I offer a warm, non-judgemental and confidential space to work through life's difficulties - in Romsey, Southampton, and online across the UK.
How I work
I work integratively, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches and adapting them to what each client needs. At the heart of how I work is the relationship between us, using the Clarkson Five Relationships model, which recognises that this relationship can take different forms as our work develops: sometimes working practically towards your goals, sometimes simply meeting honestly, person to person.
Sessions are primarily talking therapy, although I also draw on creative and experiential methods where they help - including Song-Listening, where a piece of music you choose can open up feelings or memories that are hard to reach through words alone. This is entirely optional and always led by you.
Trauma and PTSD support — Rewind Therapy
For clients affected by PTSD, trauma symptoms or flashbacks, I offer Rewind Therapy: a safe, gentle technique that can reduce or remove the emotional distress linked to traumatic memories. You don't need to share the full details of what happened for the process to work, which many people find a relief when a memory feels too painful to revisit directly. It can often bring relief in fewer sessions than talk therapy alone.
Supporting men through separation, divorce and co-parenting
This is a particular focus of mine, understood both personally and professionally. It often means working through grief, anger or guilt, adjusting to a new routine, learning to communicate differently with an ex-partner, and rebuilding a sense of who you are outside a relationship that's ended.
Other areas I work with
Anxiety · low mood · low self-esteem and self-worth · trauma and abuse, including domestic abuse · bereavement and grief · relationship breakdown · life changes including parenting, work stress, relocation and retirement.
I've also worked with a Southampton-based charity supporting survivors of domestic abuse, within a university student wellbeing service, and as a bereavement volunteer with Cruse Bereavement Support.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
