About me

I work as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in Adult Mental Health services, and I am registered with the Health Professions Council, British Psychological Society (as an Associate Fellow) and the BABCP (as an accredited CBT Therapist).

In my private practice, I specialize in helping people work through some difficult life experiences, whether major traumas or adverse life events. The therapeutic work can involve processing memories, learning strategies, and finding new ways of relating to self and others, to name a few goals, but I am guided by my clients and how they want to develop in life.

My approach

As a Clinical Psychologist, I am trained to deliver a wide range of models and have experience and expert training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (including Acceptance and Commitment therapy and Compassionate mind therapy), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Systemic therapy. I have also completed further courses in Internal Family Systems therapy and continue to develop my understanding of newer ways of working with people and their emotional distress. I draw on up to date research and literature to guide my interventions and I have found the developments in Neuroscience and nervous system theories and models helpful in guiding my work.

Over the years, I have developed more appreciation for the close links between the mind, heart and body, and will often help my clients to connect more closely to what shows up in the body.

I believe in helping my clients to find long term strategies to support emotional wellbeing, and consider self-care practices (such as meditation, journaling, and body movement) as well as creative ways of expression (through art, music, dance, or writing etc) during the therapeutic work with my clients.

My area of specialty is with adults, from the age of 18 and upwards.

Although I believe that clients are more than the symptoms they present with, I do offer treatment for the following symptom clusters:

  • Anxiety disorders such as Generalized anxiety disorder, Social Phobia, Panic Disorder and Health anxiety.
  • Trauma and Post-traumatic stress disorder, including Complex PTSD.
  • Depression and low mood
  • Low self-esteem and self-confidence issues ('Imposter syndrome')

In addition, I help clients to understand the context of their symptoms, for example, their relationships with loved ones and at work, and how disruptions or changes in these relationships can impact them and contribute to developing symptoms and emotional distress.
