About me

Hi, my name is Marie and I am a qualified counsellor. I have 30+ years’ experience of working with Autism and Neurodiversity in various roles and also vast previous experience of working with disability, chronic long-term illness, pain and dementia. As a Counsellor I have experience of working with Autism, ADHD, terminal illness, disability, dementia, bereavement, grief and loss, Anxiety, depression, Trauma, Abuse, PTSD and EUPD.

I offer 1 to 1 counselling sessions to adults, older people and teenagers, working from a person-centred core and combining techniques from Cognitive behaviour therapy, compassion focused therapy and creative ways of working. I have extensive experience of mindfulness practice spanning 25 years and can bring this into counselling sessions if the client would like to. Mindfulness alongside counselling can often be a helpful tool in helping us to understand and control anxiety.

Inclusivity and valuing each person’s uniqueness is at the core of my practice and I strive to be non-judgemental, compassionate and congruent with all of my clients. I understand the need to work at the pace of the client and am able to work short term or longer term with more complex or multiple issues. The office I work from is fully wheelchair accessible and I can also offer video call (zoom) counselling sessions or telephone counselling to suit my client's needs.
