About me
Compassionate counselling for adults, young people, and children, in Peebles, Scottish Borders and online.
I’m Maggie Henderson, a counsellor based in Peebles, working with adults, young people, and children. I offer a calm, confidential space where you can talk openly. I won’t rush you or tell you what to do. I believe that being properly listened to is where things can start to change.
I know that life can get complicated. Sometimes things feel confusing, overwhelming, or just not quite right. Anxiety, low mood, grief, self-doubt, family issues, and much more can leave us unsettled and unsure how to move forward. Maybe you haven’t come to counselling because it’s hard to put your feelings into words, that’s okay. We can talk together, take our time, and work out how counselling can help you. I’ve always seen counselling as two people walking alongside each other for a while, where I listen carefully, without judgement to help you make sense of what’s going on in a way that feels right for you.
Is your child worried about school, struggling with friendships, facing big emotions they can’t name, or going through big life changes? With children, I use play and creative ways of working so they can express themselves naturally and safely. With teenagers, I offer a steady, supportive space where they can talk honestly about whatever they are dealing with, without fear of feeling judged.
If you’d like to ask some questions or book an initial appointment for you or your child, please get in touch. I’m happy to email or have a phone call to chat. You can also find out more about me and how I work on my website.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
