About me

My name is Maia and I am an Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist. I am currently seeing clients in person and online, offering both long-term and short-term therapy.

Life can be difficult but the right support can be life-changing. Whether you’ve had previous therapy or this is your first time thinking about it, I’m here to help you understand what you can expect working with me.

Whether presenting with a specific issue or simply to gain deeper understanding and self-awareness, I pride myself on providing a warm and non-judgemental space, where clients can be themselves and explore their challenges freely and confidentially. Within this space, you can slow down and reconnect with yourself, feeling truly seen, heard, and supported.

Additionally, therapy offers the chance to develop tools and resources that extend beyond the session, enhancing resilience and self-compassion when navigating life’s challenges.

My approach

I believe that no two clients are the same and I am passionate about understanding the world through your perspective, with a deep respect for who you are and where you want to be.

My approach is ‘integrative’, meaning I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on the individual person’s needs and unique lived experience. These include but are not limited to psychodynamic, person-centred and existential theories that can help you find meaning, direction and the courage to face life’s challenges.

I have experience working with a diverse range of clients of different ages, backgrounds, genders, religions and sexual orientations with awareness and sensitivity and have a special interest in the role of language in the therapy process.

Above all, I believe that the therapeutic relationship lies at the centre of the work and how we ‘fit’ as two people is integral to building trust and working collaboratively. If you feel we could work well together, feel free to get in contact so that we can arrange a 15-minute consultation session.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a BSc in Integrative Counselling from the University of East London, accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am also a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their ethical framework.

Previously, I have volunteered with Greenwich Borough's Outreach Team, working therapeutically with adolescent students in schools. I continue to volunteer at a low-cost counselling service in Hackney.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
