About me

I currently only offer online services via video or voice calls.

I am most passionate about supporting others and am always striving to improve my services through continuous professional development courses and working on my own growth as I believe in leading by example.

I like to believe the best in people and bring a good energy to my sessions. I hope to create an environment where you can feel safe and accepted for who you are, and I look forward to building a healing relationship with you to support you through whatever endeavours you are facing.

I am trained in integrative counselling, person-centred counselling, and know many techniques across the board from different theories in counselling such as psychodynamic, gestalt, CBT, solution-focused, etc. and I take pride in tailoring sessions to suit your personal aims.

Counselling can be useful for anyone, whether you feel lost/directionless, struggling to find your feet, or simply wish to talk to a neutral non-judgemental party about your life. I provide a space where you will feel heard and matter.

I intend to work collaberatively with you to help you reach a state of empowerment and confidence to be self-sufficient moving forward in your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have two degrees, the first being a BSc (hons) in Psychology with counselling, providing me with a background in psychology which is helpful in informing my work as a counsellor.

I have my second degree MA in Integrative counselling which allowed me to learn about many different types of counselling, allowing me to personalise sessions to my clients.

I volunteer my time weekly as a counsellor for a charity working with males recovering from substance abuse disorders. I also delivered workshops on trauma, how it develops, how to manage it, and how it relates to addiction.

I have experience working with all kinds of people and issues, having worked with grief, relationship problems, anxiety, depression, substance-abuse disorder, family dynamics, childhood abuse, childhood sexual abuse, sexual trauma, dissociation, PTSD, autism, etc.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Previous client reviews (anonymised):
T says - "Before I saw Mahin I had trouble setting boundaries and trust. She made me feel very comfortable and I ended up sharing things I have never shared before about my traumas. She has helped me feel more confident and trusting myself more and has really changed my life for the better because now I understand why I do the things I do."
