About me
Psychodynamic Therapist for Mothers & Women Navigating Identity, Relationships & Matrescence
You may love your child deeply, yet feel overwhelmed, lost, or unlike yourself. Perhaps your relationships feel strained, or you find yourself reacting in ways you don’t fully understand. Many women are surprised by the emotional and psychological impact of motherhood—not just in the early days, but across the whole journey of caring for others.
I offer a space where you can begin to make sense of these experiences—without judgement, pressure, or expectation.
I specialise in supporting women through the ongoing transition of motherhood and caregiving, sometimes known as matrescence—the profound emotional, psychological, and identity shift that can unfold over time. This might include feelings of anxiety, resentment, guilt, disconnection, or a sense that you’ve lost who you once were.
My approach is psychodynamic, which means we look beneath the surface of what’s happening now to understand the deeper patterns shaping your experience.
Together, we may explore how your early relationships, past experiences, and internal expectations influence how you relate to yourself, your child, and others. This deeper understanding can bring lasting change—not just coping, but clarity and relief.
I also recognise that many of the struggles women face are not just personal, but shaped by wider social, cultural, and structural pressures. The expectations placed on mothers and caregivers can be overwhelming and unequal. Therapy can be a place where your experience is taken seriously, and where you feel seen as a whole person—not just in your role as a parent.
You don’t need to be in crisis to seek therapy. You might simply feel that something isn’t quite right, or that you want to understand yourself more deeply. If you’re curious about working together, I welcome you to get in touch for an initial conversation.
Training, qualifications & experience
I work in an inclusive and affirming way, with both professional understanding and lived experience of ADHD and autism, recognising how neurodiversity, gender, sexuality and other parts of our identity can shape emotional wellbeing, relationships and the way we move through the world.
As a qualified registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP, registration no. 402463), I operate in line with the BACP’s Ethical Framework and am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
I have a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Psychodynamic) and undertake Continuing Professional Development.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
