About me

Hello and welcome to my page.

My name is Lynda Peters, and I am a person-centred, online and telephone counsellor, based in the West Midlands.

Who do I support?

I have supported clients with a variety of reasons for choosing counselling including: Improving communication, understanding childhood experiences, relationship concerns, living with a mental health diagnosis, being neurodivergent, work-related issues, - stress - including high functioning, depression, bereavement, - and many more.

Certain situations can also impact our emotional and physical wellbeing. You may feel overwhelmed, have difficulty sleeping, or unable to cope with life expectations. Constantly worrying, overthinking can also leave us feeling stressed and anxious. You may gradually become distant or preoccupied, or feel emotionally drained, exhausted or consumed by your situation.

How can Counselling help?

Counselling can lighten the load you may have been carrying for too long. It can bring a new perspective and understanding of your situation. You can build confidence, improve self-worth and esteem, and create a deeper understanding of who you are and how life experiences have shaped your way of being. New or improved feelings of empowerment  and self-assurance can create and sustain personal boundaries leading to a more independent and fulfilled life.

Initial Consultation

Choosing the right counsellor is an investment in your wellbeing, and it can be a difficult, but important decision. Building the right rapport and connection is an important first step. To help you decide if I can meet your needs and requirements, I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation for you to ask questions, and to discover if counselling and my services are the right choice for you.

Still unsure?

If you feel you are carrying too much on your own and need someone to talk to, then your reasons for choosing counselling are valid and real, and support is here.

So why choose counselling?

We can become hesitant talking about certain situations to those we are most familiar with. Sometimes more complex situations may require more than our usual discussions and support with family and friends. Your reason for counselling may be about someone closest to you, and you may worry that discussion may bring confidentiality concerns, judgment, or unwanted opinions or advice. You may also fear that it could cause a divide or reprisals between you, your family and friends. These scenarios are also reasons why choosing to speak to someone professional and independent can be more beneficial and safer for you. I can offer an empathic non-judgmental understanding space, where your thoughts and feelings are seen, heard and validated, without unwanted opinions or advice.

I understand that sharing your story may feel exposing and you may fear judgment or feel vulnerable. I assure you that this is a common concern and completely understandable. It is your story, in your own time and in your own way. You are in control of what you say, and how much. You may not know what to say or how to say it - and that’s more than ok.

I hope my page has given you a deeper understanding of how counselling can support you.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via the Counselling Directory or through my website, where you can find all current and relevant information about my services. I hope to hear from you now or in the future, if this is not meant to be, I wish you all the very best moving forward.

Thank you for visiting my page.

Take care,

Lynda Peters (MBACP)

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further Information About My Practice:

I offer counselling sessions online via secure video or over the phone — whichever feels more comfortable and accessible for you. Working in this way means you can attend from the privacy of your own space, without needing to travel or worry about being seen arriving at a therapy room.

I work with adults (18+) and offer both short-term and longer-term support, depending on your needs. Sessions are usually weekly or fortnightly, but we can find a rhythm that works for you.

My practice  offers  a welcoming, inclusive space where you don’t need to mask or explain — just a chance to be heard, supported, and accepted exactly as you are.

For further information, and examples of  how counselling can support  visit my website https://www.spread-your-wings-therapy.co.uk/ or connect via social media.

Take care,  I hope to hear from you soon.
