About me
Hi, I’m Lydia, an integrative Psychotherapist registered with BACP. I am warm, and easy to open up to without fear of judgement. This allows us to get to the core of issues together. I combine deeper emotional work, with practical, evidence-based strategies to help you move forward.
My clients
“I understand the problem, but how do I actually move past it?”
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable individuals who find themselves repeating patterns in relationships, struggling with anxiety and self-criticism, or feeling stuck despite understanding their difficulties. Often these patterns have roots in earlier life experiences, including childhood trauma or environments where emotional needs were not fully met. I believe that these experiences and emotions need to be fully processed before clients can integrate CBT style strategies to move forward.
I have a particular interest in working with the long-term impact of childhood trauma, including dissociation, inner conflict, and difficulties with self-worth and relationships. Together we explore these experiences with curiosity and compassion, helping you understand the different parts of yourself that developed in response to them.
How I work - A Collaborative Process
The process of therapy doesn’t need to be a mystery. It is something we shape together. I aim to make the process clear and approachable, so you feel informed, safe, and involved at every step. We’ll discuss your goals and preferences, and review where we are at regularly.
What?
We start by exploring your experiences and the meaning you give them. Together we identify patterns, core beliefs, emotions, and different “parts” of yourself that may be in conflict, including protective or critical voices.
So What?
Here we work with evidence-based techniques to process emotions, resolve inner conflicts, and integrate the parts of you that developed as coping strategies. Approaches I draw on include:
Internal Family Systems (IFS) – understanding and healing different parts of yourself.
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) – safely processing strong or stuck emotions.
Rewind Technique – gently reducing the intensity of traumatic memories.
Now What?
Once deeper emotional work has been done, we focus on applying practical tools and strategies to support real-world change. Depending on your needs, this may include:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – identifying and shifting unhelpful thinking patterns.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) – developing emotional regulation, boundary-setting, and coping skills.
Solution-Focused and coaching approaches – clarifying goals, building on strengths, and creating actionable steps.
Mindfulness practices – cultivating awareness and calm in daily life.
By combining deep emotional exploration with practical evidence-based tools, we create lasting change.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
