About me

I offer person-centred counselling for adults in Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone, and online.

Sessions are 50 minutes and can be offered as either short-term or longer-term therapy, depending on your needs and what we agree together. I offer both individual sessions and the flexibility to review our work as therapy progresses, so there is no expectation that you commit to a fixed number of sessions.

My Tunbridge Wells practice is a calm, private and welcoming space with parking available nearby. Online sessions are available for those who prefer the flexibility of working from home.

I offer a free 15-minute telephone or online introductory call before booking your first session. This gives us an opportunity to briefly discuss what has brought you to counselling, answer any questions you may have, and consider whether I might be the right counsellor for you.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

My current availability and session fees are shown on my profile. If you are unsure whether counselling might be right for you, please feel free to get in touch for an initial conversation.

Training, qualifications & experience

Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

I am a BACP-registered counsellor and trained in person-centred counselling. My training has given me a strong foundation in developing a safe, collaborative and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship, with the client at the centre of the work.

Alongside my core person-centred training, I have developed knowledge and experience of Transactional Analysis, Narrative Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy, which I draw on where appropriate to support individual clients.

My experience includes working with a broad range of presenting issues, including anxiety, depression, low confidence and self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, life transitions and uncertainty.

I have a particular depth of experience supporting people affected by chronic and terminal illness, cancer and end-of-life issues. I have also supported people navigating bereavement, significant change and the emotional impact of illness, both personally and within relationships.

Alongside my private practice, I have experience facilitating support groups for people affected by cancer and volunteering within the bereavement and loss sector. I continue to develop my practice through ongoing professional development, supervision and reflective practice.

I am committed to providing ethical, thoughtful and person-centred support, recognising that each person’s circumstances, experiences and needs are unique.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Finding the right counsellor can feel like a big step, particularly if you have never had counselling before. You don’t need to have everything worked out before you get in touch, and you don’t need to know exactly what you want to talk about. We can begin with wherever you are now.

I offer a free 15-minute introductory call, giving you an opportunity to ask questions, tell me a little about what has brought you to counselling, and get a sense of whether I might be the right counsellor for you.

My approach is warm, thoughtful and collaborative. I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to the work, and I will always aim to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself and exploring what matters to you at your own pace.

I offer counselling in Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone, and online, with flexibility around short-term or longer-term work. I also offer one-off sessions where appropriate.

If you are considering counselling but are unsure whether it is right for you, please feel welcome to get in touch for an initial conversation.
