About me

Hello and a warm welcome to my profile.

You may have been feeling anxious and or depressed for some time and not know why. Maybe you have been having relationship problems or have issues with low self-esteem or low self-confidence. I know that reaching out for therapy can be a daunting process.

It’s important to find the right therapist for you, that’s why I offer a free initial 30-minute session either in person, online or via telephone.

I will provide a warm, welcoming, confidential and safe space for you to explore what is on your mind and troubling you. We will work together to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and explore your thoughts, feelings and desires.

I’m a psychodynamic counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. I see clients in person in a private and peaceful garden room near Uckfield in East Sussex. My practice is 30 minutes’ drive from Brighton and Eastbourne, on a main bus route and with private free parking. I also see clients online.

Training, qualifications & experience

My core training is in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic theory. Psychodynamic therapy is a collaborative process where we will explore together what’s on your mind, allowing you to gain insight into your unconscious thoughts leading to a greater understanding of yourself and what you want to get out of life.

Psychodynamic refers to the psyche/mind, and its interaction with our internal thoughts and desires and external influences. By looking at experiences from our childhood and how they impact us as adults, we can notice patterns in our behaviours and gain some control over them to help us feel more comfortable as we are today. I will be alongside you to support you on your journey, together we can start to make sense of what is going on for you in the here and now.

I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I also work in cancer research and have over 10 years of experience working with cancer patients and their families.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

If you think that I might be the right therapist for you, please feel free to contact me to arrange a free 30-minute meeting. This no obligation initial meeting online or via telephone will give us a chance to see if we would like to work together.

During the first session, we will explore what brings you to therapy at this time and what you would like to work on. It’s a chance to get to know each other and for me to talk about the way that I work and for you to ask me any questions you may have.
