Psychotherapeutic Counsellor MBACP

About me

Hi, I’m Lucy, and I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor who works with people to help untangle and make sense of the tricky business we call life. I offer a warm and collaborative space to explore what’s going on for you, and I work in a way that is tailored to your needs. I meet people where they are at.

I work in a ‘relational way’, meaning that sessions offer space to explore what’s going on for you, be understood and validated. I walk alongside and offer compassionate and practical support around the issues you’re facing. My work is grounded in Transactional Analysis, a therapeutic approach which brings clarity to how our relationships and experiences shape our day-to-day lives, and supports a path of healing and change which is unique to you.

My aim is to empower the people I work with to be their most authentic self. This means that what you bring to sessions doesn’t have to fully make sense, be clever or good. You can say it however it comes – plain, messy or something in-between – and we work with that.

I am not a ‘blank slate’ therapist, and I will not overload you with tips, tricks or homework, but I do give you space and will share therapeutic tools and approaches if they’re relevant. You can take what’s helpful and leave what isn’t. Having experienced my own therapy, I know what it can feel like to ask for help but also how profoundly transformative this process can be.

I’ve worked with a wide range of people, including young adults, members of the LGBTQ+ community, artists and creatives, educators, and men on probation. I am trans-inclusive and neuroaffirming in my therapy practice, and hold awareness for how our gender, sexuality, race, class, neurodiversity and education impact our journey and identity.

I have extensive experience working in education, creative and community settings where I have always held an appreciation for our similarities and differences. I bring this appreciation of our humanness to my psychotherapy practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

Please contact me to arrange a free 15-minute initial call to explore how we could work together and see if I am the right therapist for you.

I offer flexible weekly sessions which are tailored to your needs and preferences. Some people come to sessions with a specific goal in mind, and others come knowing something needs to change. The initial call and early sessions can be used to figure this out and establish the right approach for you.

Sessions can be short‑term (6-12 weeks) or open‑ended. We review this regularly to ensure our work feels supportive and meaningful.

Initial Call - 15 minutes

  • I offer a free 15-minute initial call so you can see if I would be a good fit for your needs.
  • This online or phone call is space to talk through what you would like to get from sessions and ask questions about the process.
  • I will also ask questions and share some of my approach so that we know a little more about each other if you choose to proceed with sessions.

Individual Therapy - 50 minutes

  • I offer online one-to-one sessions on a weekly basis to support continuity and a solid therapeutic relationship. These can be arranged around changing work and holiday commitments.
  • Sessions are £60 for a 50-minute online session. I will be offering in-person therapy later this year.
  • We arrange our next session at the end of each call and online BACS payment confirms this session. I will always offer an alternative session in the same week should your plans change.

I offer concessionary rates for young people (18-25), students and low-wage clients. Please contact me to ask about availability.
