About me

Hello, I’m Lucy, a psychodynamic therapist and founder of Live Beyond Counselling and Psychotherapy. I offer sessions face-to-face sessions for individuals and couples in Chelmsford, Essex, but can also work online.

I believe in therapy as a space for deep reflection and growth, working together to uncover how unconscious patterns and early life experiences shape your present-day thoughts, emotions, and relationships. My aim is to support you in moving beyond past wounds and rediscovering a more fulfilling, grounded life.

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or as though your past keeps repeating itself, I would be pleased to offer you a space where you can be heard and understood, and where we can begin to explore a path beyond those patterns.

Training, qualifications & experience

MA in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Essex: Distinction and awarded highest grade in my cohort.

Certificate in Working with Couples from the Cedars Therapy Institute.

During my Master's and beyond, I have gained substantial experience working with clients with a wide range of difficulties. The work is a privilege, and I never take the trust my clients place in me for granted.

As a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their code of ethics. I am fully insured to work with clients in private practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I work with adults and adolescents (14+ years old) who are experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, loss, trauma, issues of identity, self-esteem, stress, as well as relationship or life-transition challenges.

For couples, I provide a safe, confidential space for partners to explore challenges within their relationship. I can support you in understanding patterns of communication, addressing conflict, and reconnecting with one another in a more meaningful way.

Whether your struggle feels overwhelming, confusing, or persistent, psychotherapy can help you explore what may lie beneath those feelings and find new ways forward, in a safe and non-judgemental space.

My therapeutic approach is collaborative and client-led. In sessions, we go at a pace that feels right for you, exploring both the conscious and unconscious material, reflecting together on how your inner world connects to your current life. Over time, clients find this exploration leads to deeper self-understanding, more compassionate self-relating, and healthier relationships, not just short-term relief, but lasting, meaningful change.

I offer a free 20-minute telephone consultation so that I can hear a little more about what is bringing you to therapy and for us to get a sense of how we would work together. Following this consultation, if it feels like the right fit, we can organise your first full session.
