About me
We all face challenges in life and it can feel overwhelming trying to deal with them on your own. Whatever has brought you to look for a therapist, it can be daunting trying to find the right one. Perhaps you are wanting to understand why you struggle with self-criticism, low self-worth or feel undeserving of happiness. You may not be able to put your finger on quite what it is, but you are feeling overwhelmed or stuck in some way. I believe you are the expert on your own life and my role is to support you to make sense of your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a safe, compassionate space.
I have a particular specialism in supporting adults and young people aged 11 and over experiencing anxiety, PTSD and trauma. I offer a safe space to talk about whatever you need to without judgement and strongly believe in working collaboratively. Working at your pace, I can help you to look at coping strategies, drawing on CBT, mindfulness and grounding. When you feel ready, we can explore the deeper roots behind your symptoms and work towards challenging the beliefs underlying them.
I specialise in incorporating nature into therapy and offering creative approaches. If you find the idea of therapy in an office too intimidating or clinical, outdoor therapy can feel less formal and take away some of the anxiety of getting started. I also offer sessions from my garden counselling room in Ravenshead and via online video session which can be accessed from anywhere across the UK.

As an integrative counsellor, I will get to know you and your goals for therapy and can then offer different approaches that may help you move towards them. I often use compassion-focussed therapy, which aims to increase kindness towards yourself. If you experience negative self-beliefs, narrative therapy can help to rewrite and take control of your story and change your internal narrative.
I have undergone further CPD (continuous professional development) on working with racial trauma and have lived experience of racism being mixed-race myself.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
