About me
Hello. I am a compassionate, respectful, patient, attentive, understanding and containing therapist with a genuine wish to reduce distress and enable individuals to thrive. I am able to skillfully develop positive working relationships by making people feel comfortable. I understand how daunting therapy can be; I will provide comforting and sensitive psychological care and a safe therapeutic space.
I have successfully supported individuals of all ages from childhood through to adulthood and across the full spectrum of psychological need e.g., Anxiety; Depression; Trauma; behaviour that challenges; grief, loss and bereavement; relationships, parenting, self esteem, adjustment, psychosomatic, sleep and toileting difficulties. I have specialised in parenting and trauma.
I draw on a broad base of psychological knowledge to help individuals develop meaningful explanations for difficulties that inform which clinically proven psychological treatment best suits an individuals’ needs and wishes. Equipped with helpful psychological knowledge I will positively encourage and support you to develop useful psychological strategies to reduce distress and cope.
My evidence-based approach is one that encompasses the holistic needs of the whole family and professional teams around the child/adult to best understand and support individual need. I am skilled at adapting my practice to individual needs.
I am a trustworthy professional and receive regular required clinical supervision of my work. I am regulated by The Health and Care Professions Council. I am also a chartered member of the British Psychological Society and member of the Division of Clinical Psychology and Association for Clinical Psychology.
Training, qualifications & experience
I qualified as a Doctor of Clinical Psychology in 2004.
I have worked for Adult Mental Health and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in the NHS; Children’s Social Services (Looked After Children ); the independent and charitable sector as well as in doctoral level education. I am skilled at offering high quality clinically proven psychological therapies such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am able to skillfully integrate psychological therapies to offer informed, meaningful and effective support.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Additional information
I am also registered with a number of Private Medical Insurance providers such as Aviva, AXA PPP, Bupa, Cigna, Vitality and WPA. I will invoice PMI companies directly on your behalf.
For individuals funding sessions themselves. Payment within 24 hours of a session is required. Please provide 48 hours ( x 2 working days) notice for cancellations/requests to rearrange appointments. Less than 48 hours ( x 2 working days) notice will result in a full session fee being charged as I am unable to offer this session to someone else at short notice.
Further information
I offer remote online therapy on Wednesdays and Fridays (09.00-17.00). I do have some limited face to face availability in East Lancashire.
