About me
Are you struggling and need someone to talk to? Do you feel anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, confused, angry or just feel 'stuck'?
I can offer you a safe, compassionate and non-judgmental space where you can explore what troubles you at your own pace. You are in the driving seat. Life can be tough but with the right support you can move forward with greater clarity and hope.
What I can offer you
Everyone is different, and my approach to counselling reflects that. I am fundamentally a person-centred counsellor but work with several therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis). We can work together to identify which approach suits you best.
I offer you space and time to explore your thoughts and emotions, link past to the present, and help you get 'unstuck.'
I work mostly online, but I can offer Walk & Talk sessions if you live in East Lothian.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an Accredited Registrant member of the The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and have an Advanced Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling. I also volunteer with Cruse Bereavement Scotland.
I have been privileged to support clients with a wide range of issues including anxiety and depression, family and relationship problems, low self-esteem, childhood trauma, career changes and bereavement.
I have had rather a varied career (a scientist, a journalist and worked in the public sector), working overseas for several years. I have been a step mum and a single parent, so I know how tricky life can get!

Choosing a counsellor
Finding the right therapist that works for you is very important. So please reach out and let's have a chat to see if I'm right for you. I offer a free 15 minute introductory session online or by telephone for us to have a chat.
How many sessions do I need?
Counselling doesn't have to last for months; sometimes just one or two sessions can help you get unstuck and gain clarity. In our first session, we can discuss the issues you'd like to explore, and agree a way to work together and for how long.
How I work
I currently work online or telephone but if you are based in East Lothian there is the option for 'walk and talk' in our beautiful countryside. Please just ask.
