About me
Hi, I am Lisa, a humanist counsellor, qualified in the person-centred approach, offering warmth, confidentiality and acceptance so you can talk openly about what’s on your mind. I believe that being truly heard and understood can be the starting point for meaningful change. I aim to facilitate this by using empathic listening skills, working collaboratively with you at your pace and helping you to explore your thoughts and feelings and make sense of your experiences. While my core approach is person-centred, I also draw on elements of CBT, psychodynamic, and existential therapies, tailoring the work to suit your needs.
I have particular experience in: Trauma and recovery (including sexual assault) 8 years working at a Rape Crisis Centre, Perinatal mental health (pregnancy & early parenthood), Self-esteem and identity, Relationship and Life Transitions. I can also work across a wide range of emotional and personal difficulties and concerns.
How I Work: I offer a compassionate, trauma-informed approach, focusing on creating a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. Together, we can explore what matters to you and find ways to support your wellbeing, and personal growth. By helping you locate a sense of self worth and an increased ability to trust your inner resources, and move forward.
