I am an accredited therapist offering a confidential space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life. I have several years of counselling experience having worked in various settings such as a school, university and a community counselling service.
Some of the areas I have worked with are:
● Struggles with relationships
● Issues with identity
● Loss and bereavement
● Difficulty in expressing feelings
● Difficulties surrounding sexuality
● Feeling low
● Feelings of shame
● Feelings of stress, anxiety and panic attacks
I work with individuals aged 16 years or over. My counselling room is in my home in Abingdon, and is on the ground floor. There is off-road car parking space available. I can also offer online counselling.
The first step is to arrange to meet for an 'intial session'. This gives us an opportunity to see if we can work together. Here you can tell me a bit about yourself and ask any questions you may have, and I can tell you more about the counselling I offer.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an accredited member of UPCA and a registered member with BACP. I have professional insurance and am regularly supervised. I primarily abide by UKCP Code of Ethics.
I studied at Oxford University achieving the following qualifications:
PG Cert in Psychodynamic Counselling
PG Dip in Psychodynamic Practice
Master of Studies in Psychodynamic Practice
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
