About me

I am a counselling psychologist offering in-person and online psychological assessment and therapy. I have many years’ experience working in the NHS across different settings, and I now work in private practice.

As a counselling psychologist, I have trained and practiced in several types of psychotherapy, but primarily draw on psychodynamic and systemic models in my work with individuals. This approach is suitable for a wide range of difficulties and includes exploring early life experiences to understand how they are related to current difficulties. I work collaboratively with clients to develop a greater awareness of unconscious motivations and conflicts and to understand their influence on how we relate to ourselves and others.

You may be seeking help for issues which are longstanding and complex, or they might be specific difficulties that have developed more recently. I am flexible in my approach and offer both time-limited and open-ended therapy depending on what we agree is most helpful.

Seeking therapy is a big step, and it can be a daunting process. My aim is to offer a safe, respectful, non-judgemental space where it feels possible to be open and curious.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a doctorate in Counselling Psychology from City, University of London, and qualified in 2016.

I am registered as a Counselling Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council, and I am a chartered member of the British Psychological Society.

I have many years’ experience and have mostly worked in specialist services providing psychological assessment and therapy to adults. I have worked with people presenting a broad range of issues, but problematic dynamics in relationships are often a significant part of their concerns.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Further information

I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to have an initial discussion about how I work and what you are hoping for from therapy. If we agree to meet, we will explore the reasons for seeking therapy in more depth. This is an opportunity for me to develop an understanding of your difficulties, and for you to get a feel for how I work. Following this, we may agree to continue working together and develop an initial treatment plan. If I think another approach or service may be more suitable for your needs, I will offer advice and signposting.
