About me
I am an Integrated Psychotherapist working from a person-centred, humanistic approach, offering compassionate and collaborative therapy tailored to your individual needs. My integrative practice draws on Existential, Gestalt, Solution-Focused Therapy, Transactional Analysis, and Grief Therapy, allowing me to respond flexibly and thoughtfully to the unique experiences you bring.
Alongside my BSc Hons in Humanistic Psychotherapy, and Membership of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP), I have completed a Level 4 qualification in Grief and Bereavement Counselling and undertaken CPD-certified training in Addiction, enabling me to support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, bereavement, complex grief, substance misuse, and the emotional impact that often accompanies these challenges.
I provide grief counselling, addiction therapy, and trauma-informed psychotherapy in Chesterfield and across Derbyshire, as well as online counselling throughout the UK. I work with adults and students who may be living with anxiety, depression, PTSD, low self-confidence and self-worth, emotional disconnection, or the lasting effects of difficult early-life experiences.
At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe enough to explore what may feel overwhelming, confusing or painful. Together, at your pace, we can gently unpack your experiences, rebuild self-worth and help you reconnect with a stronger sense of who you are.
Therapy with me is grounded in empathy, authenticity and unconditional positive regard. As an Integrative Humanistic Psychotherapy, I aim to support meaningful, lasting change — helping you move towards greater emotional resilience, self-understanding and a more hopeful future.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation to help you decide whether I feel like the right fit for you.
I provide face-to-face counselling at Claycross, Chesterfield and online psychotherapy across the UK through my private practice, SPIRE Therapy.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with
I have experienced many life time challenges due to long-term memory loss, which is a result of a vehicle collision during my childhood. This strengthens my appreciation that anxiety and low self-esteem can develop from memory recall challenges.
I was adopted as a baby during the 1960s. This has held many difficult challenges concerning Grief, identity and attachment issues. I am keen to connect with people in similar circumstances who have never found a space where they have felt safe to visit these emotions and personal concerns.

Further information
I came into therapy as a mature student at the age of 55, following my experience as a Samaritan during the Covid-19 lockdown, when I was unable to continue my full-time role as an Approved Driving Instructor. My time as a listening volunteer reawakened a long-held desire to support others through life’s challenges.
For many years, personal trauma—including multiple losses and a car accident that caused amnesia of much of my childhood—left me doubting my ability to pursue the education needed to become a therapist. However, my work with the Samaritans and my own process of healing helped me to recognise my capacity to truly listen, empathise, and be present for others. This led me to take a leap of faith and begin my degree at 55.
It feels both humbling and empowering to say that experiences I once viewed as purely painful have become my greatest strengths. Through my own therapeutic journey, I’ve learned to embrace my story and find self-worth in places where I once felt powerless. These insights now form the foundation of my work with clients, helping me to bring authenticity, empathy, and understanding to every session.
