About me
Whatever the reason you are seeking therapy I will offer a safe and non-judgmental space for us to explore the difficulties you might be facing in your life. I bring a relational and empathic approach to the work. In other words, I am simply myself and I welcome whoever you are and whatever you may wish to bring. I believe such a relationship can prove to be the reparative foundation for the change and growth you seek.
I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period in a private therapy room in Mile End. Sessions are 50 minutes long. I work both face to face and online.
The first session will be an assessment where we will meet to discuss what your needs and wants from therapy might be. This can also be an opportunity to sense if I am the right therapist for you and if working together might be useful.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy from the Metanoia Institute and I am a registered member of the UKCP. I adhere strictly to the UKCP Code of Ethics as does my supervisor. I am fully DBS checked and my personal indemnity insurance is with Towergate.
I have clinical experience in, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, bereavement, trauma, domestic violence, PTSD and neurodiversity. In addition to my private practice, I work as a Specialist Psychotherapist at Kings College Hospital NHS Trust where I specialise in working with women and men who have suffered sexual violence.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
