About me
Hello, My name is leigh. I have been told by clients, I am warm, friendly and easy to talk to.
Many years ago, I started as a volunteer for the Samaritans and Victim support. My interest in counselling and helping people grew and I decided that I wanted to know more...
I trained as a psychodynamic counsellor, as I was curious about how past experiences can influence how we are now. I started my private practice and continue to see people from my office in Stilton, Cambridgeshire (which is easy to get to from the A1).
I was involved in setting up a Counselling service for students and staff at Stamford College. Which gave me good experiences of working with young adults.
As the time went, on I felt I wanted more tools to work with.
My training as an Integrative Psychotherapist has given me the tools that I felt I needed and working for an IAPT service (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies), for the NHS for 17 years, has given me lots of experience of dealing with many mental health issues. It has felt a privilege to meet so many people, from all walks of life.
I have always had a private practice in Stilton, so that I can work short or longer term. I work face to face, but since the pandemic I work on-line, using Teams.
I realise that sometimes it is not easy to go for the first session of therapy, so I offer a free 30 min phone call. Which gives people the chance to talk about any concerns or questions that they have, about starting sessions. If you want to take up this offer, Please contact me and we can arrange a time that's good for you.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
