BACP Accredited Men's Counsellor & EMDR Accredited

About me

Men's Counselling, EMDR Therapy and Baby Loss Support in Cornwall and Online Across the UK

I'm Lee, a BACP Accredited Counsellor and EMDR Accredited Therapist based in Cornwall, offering face-to-face counselling in Helston and online therapy across the UK.

I specialise in supporting men experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, stress, burnout and baby loss, including miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal loss.

Many of the men I work with are used to carrying things on their own. They are often the person everyone else relies on. They keep going, go to work, support their family and do their best to hold everything together. From the outside, things may look fine. Underneath, they can feel exhausted, overwhelmed, disconnected or stuck.

You may find yourself constantly overthinking, struggling to switch off, feeling irritable or snapping at the people you care about most. You may feel flat, unmotivated or like you've lost a part of yourself somewhere along the way. Perhaps you've experienced trauma, loss or a difficult life event that still affects you more than you'd like to admit.

You don't have to wait until things reach breaking point before getting support.

Therapy can provide a space to slow things down, make sense of what is happening and find practical ways forward. Together we can work to reduce anxiety, process trauma, rebuild confidence and help you feel more like yourself again.

Alongside my clinical work, I am also the author of Still His Dad, a book written to support fathers navigating baby loss and the often-overlooked impact it can have on men's mental health.

Is This You?
You might feel like you're running on empty.

The things that used to help you switch off or feel like yourself - football, music, work, the gym, time with family or mates - just don't seem to have the same effect anymore.

You may feel constantly on edge, unable to relax, always waiting for the next problem. Perhaps your mind never switches off. Maybe you find yourself replaying conversations, worrying about the future or carrying a pressure that never really seems to leave.

Sometimes it shows up physically too. Poor sleep, headaches, a tight chest, exhaustion, irritability, feeling restless or permanently drained can all be signs that something isn't right.

If you've experienced baby loss, miscarriage or stillbirth, you may feel numb, angry, guilty, isolated or unsure how to process what has happened. Many fathers tell me they felt expected to be the strong one, supporting everyone else while quietly struggling themselves.

If you've been trying to deal with things alone and nothing seems to change, it doesn't mean you're weak. It means you're carrying more than anyone should have to carry on their own.

Why I Do This
Many of the men I work with tell me they feel they should be able to cope on their own. They worry that asking for help means they've failed somehow, or that nobody will really understand what they're going through.

I understand those feelings because I've experienced many of them myself.

I have lived experience of anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma and baby loss. There were times when getting through the day felt exhausting and when I felt disconnected from myself and the people around me.

With the right support, things gradually began to change. I rebuilt confidence, became more present with my family and slowly started to feel more like myself again.

That experience is part of what led me into this work.

Today, I help men who feel overwhelmed, stuck, burnt out or lost find a way forward, helping them feel calmer, more grounded and more able to cope with whatever life has put in front of them.

What Working With Me Looks Like
We start with a free 15-minute phone call. This gives you the chance to tell me a little about what's been happening and decide whether I feel like the right fit for you.

If you decide to continue, our first session focuses on understanding what is going on, what you would like to change and how we can work towards that together.

I use an integrative approach, drawing from counselling, CBT and EMDR therapy depending on your needs and goals. There is no pressure to open up before you are ready. We work at your pace, build trust and focus on what matters most to you.

Many men tell me that therapy becomes the one place where they can speak honestly without feeling judged, criticised or expected to have all the answers.

Over time, clients often begin to feel calmer, more confident, less overwhelmed and better able to manage anxiety, process trauma and move forward with their lives.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and EMDR Accredited Practitioner based in Cornwall, providing counselling and EMDR therapy for men both face to face in Helston and online across the UK.

I specialise in supporting men experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, OCD, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and baby loss, including miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal loss. Many of the men I work with have spent years carrying things on their own, often feeling pressure to keep going while struggling underneath.

Alongside private practice, I have worked across mental health services, education, addiction recovery, employee assistance programmes and charitable organisations. This breadth of experience has given me a strong understanding of the challenges many men face, including work-related stress, burnout, trauma, grief, family pressures, emotional shutdown and major life transitions.

My approach combines counselling, CBT and EMDR therapy to help clients process difficult experiences, reduce anxiety, overcome unhelpful patterns and move towards meaningful and lasting change. I aim to offer therapy that feels practical, supportive and grounded in real life rather than overly clinical or overwhelming.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and EMDR Accredited Practitioner with experience supporting men experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, OCD, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and baby loss, including miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal loss.

Many of the men I work with are used to carrying things on their own, putting others first and feeling pressure to stay strong no matter what is happening underneath. Therapy provides a space where you do not have to do that alone.

My approach is practical, supportive and tailored to your individual needs. I draw on counselling, CBT and EMDR therapy to help clients make sense of difficult experiences, reduce emotional distress and create meaningful, lasting change.

Whether you choose face-to-face counselling in Cornwall or online therapy elsewhere in the UK, my aim is to create a genuine therapeutic relationship where you feel understood, supported and able to move forward with greater confidence, clarity and resilience.
