About me
Hi, I'm Leah. I'm a qualified integrative counsellor based in the Waterside area of Derry.
If you're looking for a counsellor, you might already know how overwhelming it can feel. There are so many profiles to read and it can be difficult knowing who is the right fit.
Whether you have one specific worry, lots going on, or you simply don't know where to start, you don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Every person has a story, and I'm interested in getting to know yours.
I'm not here to judge or tell you what to do. I'm here to listen, to help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings, and to support you in understanding yourself a little better than when you first walked through the door.
I work with adults and young people aged 14+, adapting therapy to each individual rather than expecting one approach to fit everyone. My practice is neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed, recognising that no two people experience life in the same way
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified integrative counsellor with a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and have successfully completed the CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (certificate pending). I have also completed the first year of my Level 7 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and continue to undertake regular professional development.
I have several hundred hours of supervised counselling experience working with adults and young people aged 14+, supporting a wide range of presenting concerns. My additional training includes trauma-informed practice, neurodiversity, safeguarding adults and children, suicide and self-harm, mental health, CBT-informed approaches, and ADOS-2 and ADI-R training.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and attend regular clinical supervision in line with my professional and ethical responsibilities.

Further information
Finding the right counsellor is important, and I believe the relationship you build with your therapist is one of the biggest factors in whether counselling feels helpful.
My approach is relaxed, genuine and collaborative. I don't expect you to have all the answers before you walk through the door, and there is no pressure to know where to begin. Sometimes simply having someone alongside you while you untangle your thoughts can be enough.
I don't believe people are broken, and I don't think we can understand someone by looking only at a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. Every person has a story, and I'm interested in getting to know yours. Together, we'll work at a pace that feels right for you, helping you understand yourself a little better than when you first walked through the door.
Whether you're coming to counselling for a specific reason or because something just doesn't feel quite right, you'll be met with warmth, honesty and acceptance.
