MBACP, FdA Integrative Counselling

About me

Hello, and welcome. My name is Laura and I am a qualified integrative Therapist based in Weymouth, Dorset. I offer both online therapy and face-to-face sessions to suit your needs, ensuring flexibility and comfort no matter where you are. I am also a proud member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which reflects my commitment to high professional standards and ethical practice.

As an Integrative Therapist with a trauma-informed approach, I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities, in particular, person-centred therapy and psychodynamic. This allows me to tailor therapy to suit your individual needs and goals. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or simply looking for personal growth, I offer a compassionate and non-judgemental space to explore your thoughts and feelings.

Being trauma-informed means that I understand the profound impact that past experiences can have on your mental and emotional health. I create a safe and sensitive environment, ensuring that the pace and focus of therapy align with your comfort level, and I always prioritise your emotional safety throughout the therapeutic process.

What I Offer:

Online Therapy: I offer secure and confidential online sessions, which can be a convenient option if you're unable to attend in person or prefer the flexibility of a virtual setting.

Face-to-Face Sessions: For those who prefer in-person therapy, I am available for consultations in Weymouth, Dorset.

Trauma-Informed Care: I take into consideration the effects of trauma and ensure that my approach is sensitive to the needs of individuals who have experienced distressing events.

Personalised Approach: I integrate therapeutic methods to work with you in a way that best fits your personality, preferences, and concerns.

Safe and Confidential Space: All sessions are held in a safe, supportive, and confidential environment where you can express yourself freely.

Whether you are experiencing a specific difficulty, processing past trauma, or simply want to enhance your well-being, I am here to support you through your journey. My goal is to empower you with tools to better understand yourself, develop resilience, and move forward in your life with greater confidence and clarity.

I look forward to working with you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an FdA degree in Integrative Counselling, having previously completed CPCAB Levels 2 and 3 in Counselling Skills and Studies. I am now continuing my journey with a BA in Integrative Counselling, which allows me to deepen my knowledge and keep developing the way I work.

I have worked in a variety of settings that shape who I am as a therapist today. In palliative care, I supported people and families during some of the most tender and difficult times of life. This taught me the importance of presence, gentleness and creating a space where every feeling, no matter how painful, can be spoken and honoured.

I have also worked within the prison system. This gave me an understanding of how trauma, isolation and life experiences can weigh heavily, and how much strength and resilience people carry even when they feel forgotten or unseen. I bring this awareness into the counselling room, offering a place where you do not need to carry things alone.

My work in a hospital setting with mothers experiencing postnatal depression showed me how complex and overwhelming life can feel at a time when others may expect happiness. Sitting with women in these moments reminded me how powerful it can be simply to feel heard, understood and not judged.

These experiences, together with my professional training, allow me to meet each client as a whole person with their own unique story. I offer warmth, compassion and respect, and I believe that within a safe and supportive relationship, change and healing are possible.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I am a therapist who is approachable, compassionate and thoughtful in the way I work. In therapy, my focus is always on you and what you need, and I aim to work at a pace that feels safe and comfortable. I believe that the relationship we build together is at the heart of the work, and I will always hold your best interests in mind.

I understand that beginning therapy can feel daunting, so I create a calm and supportive atmosphere where you can speak openly without fear of judgement. People often tell me that I bring a sense of warmth and steadiness, and I hope this helps you to feel truly heard and understood.

Above all, I see therapy as a journey we take together. I will walk alongside you with care and encouragement, offering a professional, grounded presence while also bringing a genuine human connection.
