About me

Let's get you to the place that you truly deserve

Hello, my name is Kohliah Roberts and if you are reading this I want you to know that this journey is truly all about you! Let us get you to the place that you truly deserve.

Who am I? I am someone who cares about the well-being of others which led me to qualify as a Person-centred Counsellor from a BACP-Accredited course. My counselling method is built on person-centred counselling plus adapting to the clients’ needs and creating a unique style for each client. My mission as a counsellor is to offer a safe, warm and open space. I focus on individual development and the development within couples as the ability to maintain healthy relationships is extremely important for one’s mental health. Building on interpersonal relationships and family relationships is something that I take pride on also focusing on. The people we connect with in our life's have a huge impact on our day to day experiences and sometimes we just need to enhance our current relationships.

We tend to place such a focus and emphasis on our physical health, whether through dietary or physical exercise but can easily neglect our mental health. Our mental health is just as important as it is a part of what makes us who we are. We all deserve to have a healthy well-being and I believe that counselling is a method to which this can be achieved.

We all face a time in life where it feels overwhelming and lonely; with counselling you are not alone. Sometimes we need redirection or just simply to be listened to.

I value individual difference and strongly believe people can be empowered to find their own answers. I know that I am not a fixer, and I don't have all the answers; however my position is to work with you to find the best solution.

My service will offer ways of empowerment and understanding in a non-judgemental space. My mission is to be there for YOU and to guide you through the challenges that you are experiencing.

It is important to take time to breathe, readjust and reconnect

I am based within 2 Miles From Crystal Palace, Forest Hill, Catford, Beckenham, Sydenham

If you are interested in receiving counselling, please do not hesitate to contact me via telephone or email.

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience/Training

I am a BACP registered Counsellor and adhere wholly to confidentiality and act accordingly to the standard in which the BACP promote.

I am a qualified Person-Centred counsellor and I work with individuals and couples. I have also trained in relationship counselling and work as a counsellor in a secondary school. My training in relationship counselling at Relate has been one where I have come to understand the dynamics of relationships and what can alter and affect them in the short term and the long term. I have worked with couples who have had difficulties with financial burdens, infidelity, social media strains, separation, cultural differences and indifference's in bringing up children; together we then use counselling to explore how these external factors contribute towards a relational disconnect. Working with such circumstances has allowed me to grow a skill set to recognise that individual values including wants and needs and expectations can create a strain on relationships and it is my role to offer couples a platform where each individual can be heard and motivated to build on the betterment of their relationships.

My school counselling experience involves working alongside young people with difficult issues such as bullying, confidence building, bereavement, self-harm, feelings of isolation and many other concerning issues. My role is to listen and support the experience of the students I work with whilst being there for them in their difficult time of need.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
