About me

I aim to provide a safe and accepting space for you to explore your difficulties, discover your values and what matters to you, and find ways to live your life more fully.

I completed my Masters in Pluralistic Counselling at Abertay University (with Distinction) in 2022.  Since then I have worked with people struggling with a range of difficulties, including navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, ADHD, addiction, menopause and many others.

My approach is pluralistic, person centred and existential.  I also have a background as a writer and love using creative methods, journaling and narrative therapy techniques in my work.  I believe that the creative process can help us open up new ways of seeing, become more present in our lives and rediscover our authentic selves.

As a pluralistic therapist I draw on ideas and methodologies from many difference 'schools' of therapy, including acceptance and commitment therapy, internal family systems and compassion focused therapy.  However, the most important thing to me is not the methods used but you, the client, and the collaborative relationship we form as we work together.

I am a qualified mindfulness teacher with the UK Mindfulness Association and can offer mindfulness coaching alongside or as part of therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I am a pluralistic counsellor working from a person centred foundation. We may make use of a range of tools from different therapeutic methods, including person centred, psychodynamic and compassion focused therapy, but this will always be done in collaboration with you using the tools you find most helpful. As a writer I have a particular interest in using creative methods especially writing and journaling. I am also interested in mindfulness, outdoor and nature therapy and Internal Family Systems.

I work in person from my counselling office in the East Neuk of Fife, and also online.  I can also offer walk and talk sessions in the East Neuk.

I offer a free 20 minute video call as a way for you to get to know me and ask any questions about the type of work we may do together.

Due to monthly travel commitment one session a month will be delivered online for face to face clients, or they can choose to skip a week if preferred.
