About me
I’m Kip, and I’m an art psychotherapist based in Sussex. Many people find Art Therapy works for them as the sensory and creative experiences it offers help them to explore their emotions and selves on a deeper level. You do not need to be 'good' at art!
Some people prefer to make lots and talk very little; others prefer talking and making art occasionally. Whatever your preference, we can find the right approach for you.
My therapeutic approach is psychodynamic, meaning I value the importance of early experiences, significant relationships, and conscious and unconscious feelings. I work in a trauma-informed way, meaning I prioritise establishing a secure sense of safety and containment before we delve into any trauma, and use somatic and creative techniques to help you feel safe and present.
I take a warm, playful, and curious approach to your inner world and see you as the expert in your own life. I do not have all the answers, but believe that you can find these inside yourself; I can help you be with your feelings and explore them with support so you can find your way through.
I recognise that we are all deeply affected by the systems we exist within and the oppressions, marginalisations and power dynamics which arise from these contexts.
I am queer, trans, and neurodivergent and have a wealth of experience and passion supporting people in an inclusive way.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold an MA in Art Psychotherapy from Roehampton University.
I am a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) and Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) registered. I hold an up-to-date Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check.
I have ten years' experience in helping professions, including education, care, and community mental health, including providing support around suicidal ideation for LGBTQ+ people.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
