About me

I am an experienced and friendly Psychotherapist, Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor with a background in the NHS, working with clients with a wide range of issues including unresolved trauma, relationship problems, bereavement and anxiety, anger, abuse and depression.

In addition to offering therapy to adults and young people, I also offer couple counselling for clients seeking to resolve problems within their relationship. Couple counselling can help to explore issues such as breakdown in communication, dealing with an affair, sexual difficulties, etc.

If you have been experiencing problems which you feel are holding you back in life, then therapy is an option worth exploring. My aim is to help alleviate the suffering you may be experiencing by working with you to make the changes you need within a strong therapeutic relationship built upon trust and rapport.

Within my practice, I help clients experiencing a wide range of complex issues including trauma, anxiety, relationship problems, etc. We work together to facilitate desired changes or personal growth. It is important to remember that your well-being matters and your feelings are valid. We all have the right to self-development and a good quality of life.

Any changes you wish to make can begin today.

Relationship Counselling

I also offer couple therapy for clients who are seeking to resolve problems within their relationship. Couple work is not restricted to romantic partnerships; you may wish to work on a relationship with a family member, or any other meaningful relationship where you wish to attend as part of a couple. Couple therapy can help to explore issues such as breakdown in communication, dealing with an affair, sexual difficulties, etc. I do not side with either party, however I will be attending to destructive and unhelpful patterns of behaviour. Couples therapy requires work and commitment; it is not a quick fix and can often be a painful and uncomfortable process. If you are seriously looking to work on your relationship and are not afraid of being challenged on unhelpful behaviours, then I may be therapist to help.

Supervision

I offer supervision to both qualified counsellors and those in training.  My supervision practice is built on a warm and empathic person-centred foundation, whilst also being suitable for integrative practitioners using various modalities.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

I am an integrative therapist, therefore I will tailor our sessions in a way that will most benefit you. I use various therapeutic models based upon your needs and the issues you wish to bring. I offer understanding, insight and a place where you can speak your truth. I am not one of those therapists who will sit there in stony silence expecting you to do all of the talking.  I want my clients to feel as comfortable as possible in our sessions which are a two way conversation. Talking things through with a compassionate therapist can be hugely beneficial and even life changing for many clients.

I have been in private practice for many years and prior to that spent two years as a counsellor within the NHS.

In addition to my formal qualifications, I have undertaken many courses and workshops in various therapeutic models and continue to train for my own personal development.

I write regularly for publications regarding therapy and wellbeing. You can find some examples of my contributions using the below links:

My therapy rooms are confidential and relaxing spaces in which you are able to speak freely and without worry of judgement. I work in private practice and my office is based in a peaceful area of Wilmslow.
