Integrative Counsellor (Dip. Psych, Dip. Couns, MBACP)
Barrow-Upon-Humber, Lincolnshire, DN19

About me

I am an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and a Registered Member of the BACP. My approach brings together person-centred values, attachment-based understanding, awareness of the mind-body connection, and gentle reflective cognitive practices. This supports us in exploring both your emotional world and the patterns that may have developed over time.

I recognise that early experiences can leave an imprint that shapes how we feel and relate in the present. Counselling offers a space to gently reconsider these patterns and move towards greater clarity, steadiness, and connection.

How I can help

Counselling can support you through many different experiences, whether you are feeling overwhelmed, navigating a difficult situation, or wanting to understand yourself more deeply.

I offer support with emotional, relational, and life challenges such as relationship difficulties, family dynamics, trauma, abuse, stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement, loneliness, self-esteem concerns, unhelpful habits or patterns, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD). I also work with clients navigating experiences related to identity, sexuality, health, or relationships.

Our work together can unfold at a pace that feels safe and manageable, with space to explore what feels most important for you.

You are welcome to get in touch if you are considering counselling. There may be times when life feels heavy, confusing, or difficult to hold alone. Counselling offers a calm, steady space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. I offer a grounded, compassionate environment where you can explore what feels important at your own pace, without pressure or expectation.

I work with adults aged 18 and over who are experiencing a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges.

I welcome people from all backgrounds and adapt my way of working to meet your individual needs, including sensory or communication preferences.

Depending on what feels supportive for you, we may explore relational patterns, body-based awareness by noticing what is happening in your body, grounding practices, and reflective cognitive practices.

If you are thinking about counselling, you are welcome to get in touch. Reaching out can feel like an important step, and you are invited to do so whenever it feels helpful. We can shape the counselling together in a way that feels safe and manageable, with space for you to choose what feels right for you.

Whether you are looking for support with something specific or simply wanting space to explore what is happening in your life, I offer a calm, steady place to begin.

You are welcome to contact me if you would like to talk things through, ask any questions, or arrange an appointment.

With kindness,

Kelly

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience supporting adults through trauma, abuse, bereavement, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem concerns, unhelpful habits or patterns, loneliness, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD), and experiences related to identity, sexuality, health, or relationships.

Alongside private practice, I work within a sexual violence and domestic violence organisation and volunteer in a hospice providing bereavement support.

My practice is supported by regular clinical supervision, ongoing training, and a commitment to reflective practice.

I have worked with adults from diverse backgrounds, identities, and life experiences, and I am committed to offering counselling that is inclusive, respectful, and responsive to each person’s unique needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

What to expect in your first session

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We will explore what brings you to counselling, what feels important for you right now, and what you hope for from our work together. There is no pressure to share anything before you feel ready. You are welcome to take things at a pace that feels comfortable.

How sessions work

Sessions last 60 minutes and can take place either in-person or online.

In-person sessions are held in a quiet, comfortable, purpose-built counselling room in Barrow upon Humber, North Lincolnshire, with free parking outside.

Online sessions are available for clients across the UK.

Availability

I offer daytime and some early evening appointments, with weekly or fortnightly options available.

Immediate appointments may sometimes be available depending on my current availability.

I provide both short‑term counselling (approximately 6-8 sessions) and longer‑term counselling, depending on what feels right for you.

If you are considering counselling, you are welcome to get in touch so we can talk about what you are looking for and whether working together feels supportive for you.
