MBACP Integrative Counsellor ( My Therapy Coach)

About me

Hi Im Kelly, thanks for reading my profile. I am a qualified counsellor who works with adults and teenagers.

I have experience in supporting people with difficulties that may be affecting their mental health. Such as anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, loss, bullying, work related stress, suicide, self harm, domestic abuse, relationship breakdown, trauma, childhood abuse.

I am skilled in providing talking therapies with nurses, teachers, police officers, health and social care workers who may be experiencing burn out or compassion fatigue. I'm also experienced in providing therapeutic and reflective spaces for managers and leaders who may be feeling emotionally worn down from the pressures of leading services, holding risk and staffing issues.

I enjoy working with young people and can provide creative talking therapies using arts and crafts, therapeutic play and sensory methods. This can be an effective way to work particularly if you have adhd or autism, or waiting for an assessment. Maybe you are looking to make sense of your lived experiences or manage difficult thoughts and feelings that may be hard to talk about.

I can help you move forward to overcome difficulties and feel more positive about life. I do this by providing you with a relaxed space to feel heard. We will find solutions and strategies together to improve your quality of life. I offer one to one sessions, in person or online. I also offer groups and learning circles.

I work integratively. This means that I use person-centred counselling as a foundation. Then if it suits you, I can draw upon other helpful counselling and therapeutic approaches. I will work with you in a way that feels comfortable and compassionate. I won't judge you and won't tell you what you have to do. Together we can find new ways to work things out so that you can move forward with your life with purpose.

I have personal lived experience of coping with disability, health conditions, being a parent of an autistic child and navigating complicated health systems. I also have professional  lived experience of losing people I have worked with and cared about, to suicide. As well as supporting staff during similar difficult experiences.

I am trained in meditation and EFT ( also known as tapping). I'm happy to encorperate these techniques within sessions. They can be particularly helpful for managing anxiety, fears, stress, sleep disturbances, and difficult memories.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).This means that I follow their ethical framework. I currently work part time in a men's charity as a suicide prevention therapist alongside my private work.

I have over 25 years of relevant experience working with children and adults in a therapeutic way and in leading multi- disciplinary teams with trauma informed supervision. I have delivered structured group work and psycho education courses.

Between 2017 and 2024 I managed a women's service that was delivered through a charity in partnership with several Local Authorities across the Liverpool City Region. I have worked directly with children and families in various settings; residential, secure, education youth justice and children's safeguarding.

In my earlier career, I qualified as a Probation Officer. I have worked in prison and community criminal justice settings with people involved in crime and with victims.

I am skilled in working creatively with neuro-divergent clients, whether diagnosed or self identified. If this resonates with you and you require additional reminders and prompts ahead of sessions, we can agree this together.

I am an experienced trainer and public speaker, having delivered workshops and training events across multi- agency safeguarding partnerships, guest lectures at Edge Hill University, and in collaboration with local organisations who have commissioned my services.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
