About me

Hello. I’m Kate and I’m a qualified psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist. I truly believe that in order to resolve some life difficulties, we need to dig deep into a root cause of the problem, usually having its origin in early childhood experiences. We need to look at the way we were brought up by our parents and how we were shaped by early relationships with our closed ones. By doing this, we can notice our defence mechanisms and assess the effectiveness of those in the present and check for the behaviour patterns that we repeat over and over again, not fully understanding the reason behind it.

Doing this is not always easy and can be a daunting and scary experience. Having someone to explore all complicated feelings and emotions with us in a non-judgmental way is crucial to be able to go through the process safely and successfully. I am confident that with my sensitivity and a heart full of compassion and empathy for another human being, you can go on that journey and hopefully, with some hard work, come out of it as a free, fulfilled and happy person.

I specialise in physical, sexual and narcissistic abuse, eating disorders, depression and anxiety.

I also love working with women, who plan motherhood, are expecting a baby or recently had a baby, who would like to address their own past traumas and mental health concerns to ensure a healthier transition into motherhood. I aim to help mothers build their self-esteem, learn effective coping mechanisms and address their past family dynamics that often stand in the way of becoming a “good enough” parent.  Such fostering and educational counselling experience can benefit not only the women themselves, but also contribute to healthier family relationship and positive early childhood development.

I offer free 30 minutes consultation over the phone to see whether we suit each other and if we agree to work together, we meet for 50 minutes face-to-face or online each week at the same time. My fee is £60 per session.

I am a registered member of BACP to ensure my sessions are conducted ethically and professionally.

I am fluent both in English and Polish.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
