About us
Strong on the outside. Tired on the inside.
Maybe you’ve worked hard to stay strong and independent — keeping things together, staying in control, not needing too much from anyone. But underneath, there’s a part of you that still longs for connection, to be seen and wanted. Maybe you replay conversations in your head, second-guess yourself, or feel stuck with a constant sense that you’re not good enough — even if no one else sees it. Maybe there are days when everything feels heavy, and you're not even sure what you're reaching for anymore.
Surviving — even thriving — can come at a cost no one else sees. If the armour you built is weighing you down, therapy offers a space to develop a new relationship with yourself — and with the experiences that shaped you. In that space, real change becomes possible.
I’m David (he/him), a psychodynamic psychotherapist accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). Psychodynamic psychotherapy offers you the chance to get to know yourself more deeply — not just the parts you show to the world, but the parts you hide, even from yourself. Together, we explore the patterns and experiences that have shaped how you feel, think, and relate to others.
Fees
My standard fee is between £75 and £120 per session, depending on your financial circumstances. We’ll discuss and agree a fee that feels manageable and sustainable during your initial consultation.
If you're unsure about therapy, I offer a structured six-session package for £390 to help you get started. It’s a focused, time-limited way of exploring what’s going on beneath the surface — and beginning to see what might be possible. This can be paid in full or in weekly instalments.
If you’d like to arrange an initial consultation, I’d be glad to hear from you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed my clinical training at the British Psychotherapy Foundation (BPF), one of the UK’s leading training organisations in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Before that, I had a professional background in the UK and internationally. This experience has given me a particular sensitivity to the emotional impact of professional life — including anxiety, perfectionism, and the quiet cost of holding everything together. I work thoughtfully with clients navigating high-performance cultures, burnout, and the challenge of reconciling outer success with inner uncertainty.
Alongside my private practice, I’m also a therapist at the Royal College of Art. My experience providing short-term therapy there has shaped my belief that even in a limited number of sessions, it’s possible to begin making meaningful links between past experiences and present struggles. I also spent several years at Gay Men’s Therapy, where I developed specific experience in working with sexuality, gender identity, and non-heteronormative relationships. This continues to inform my practice and my belief that therapy should be a place where all parts of a person, even those that feel shameful, uncertain, or difficult to share, are welcomed without judgement.
If any of this resonates with you, I’d be glad to hear from you.
Member organisations *
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.
BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
