About me

People often come to therapy when the way they've been living stops working quietly. On the outside, things may look fine, even enviable. Inside, there is anxiety that arrives at 3am, a flatness that doesn't lift, or simply a sense that the life you built and the person you are have drifted apart. I work with capable adults: the ones who hold demanding lives together, who others lean on, and who rarely show what it costs them.

I work integratively, shaping the approach around each client rather than fitting anyone to a method. The relationship of equals comes first. Alongside it, I pay close attention to what happens as we talk, in the room and in the body, and, where it helps, we look at where a pattern first began. There is no manual and no set programme of techniques; the work is shaped around you, and progress grows out of the relationship.

I most often work with anxiety, worry and panic; depression and low mood; stress and burnout; self-esteem and self-criticism; OCD and intrusive thoughts; adult ADHD; relationship difficulties; childhood and family dynamics; disordered eating and body image; difficulties with sex and intimacy; women's health; and life transitions and identity.

I see clients in person in Clapham and near Bank in the City of London, and online. Sessions can be held entirely in English, French, or Italian. We begin with a free 20-minute call, with no obligation, to see whether working together feels right.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and hold a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from a BACP-accredited course. I also hold an MSc in Psychology, accredited by the British Psychological Society, completed with Distinction; my recent research explored the lived experience of people with OCD and intrusive thoughts and is being prepared for publication.

I trained clinically within NHS Talking Therapies, working with anxiety and depression at all levels of risk, with session-by-session outcome monitoring and regular clinical supervision. I have worked with clients in prison, in the NHS and now in private practice. Before retraining, I spent fifteen years in international finance and consulting, which gives me a particular understanding of demanding professional lives. I hold full professional insurance and work within the BACP Ethical Framework, with regular supervision.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Appointments run on weekdays between 8am and 6pm, with occasional 7pm appointments by arrangement. My consulting rooms are in Clapham and near Bank in the City of London, and I also work online; some clients blend the two. Before we begin, you receive a clear written agreement covering sessions, fees, cancellation, and confidentiality, and the first session is a gentle, structured assessment so we decide together how to work. What is said in the room stays between us. More at innerspacetherapy.co.uk.
