About me
Hi, I'm Julie, a registered and qualified psychodynamic counsellor. Offering affordable counselling to adults in person or video (Wirral and Liverpool city centre, Merseyside).
No problem is too small if it’s affecting you, so please do get in touch. I appreciate how life events, relationships or health conditions can tip the balance of your mental health, whether its bereavement, family conflict, living with ADHD and,or autism, work related stress or bullying or the toll of being a carer for an ageing parent or a vulnerable child, managing a chronic illness….All of which can leave you battling anxiety (GAD, social), depression, low self-esteem or low confidence, as well as feeling lost, stressed, stuck, overwhelmed, hopeless and detached from those around you.
During counselling sessions, we will explore the day to day difficulties you face, your emotions and feelings as well as relationships, family dynamics, boundaries and your beliefs to help develop insight into your past and how it is showing up in present day issues. You will set the pace and depth when sharing your thoughts, feelings and emotions. I will listen and provide non-judgemental support as you consider options and gain greater clarity, acceptance or a pathway for change (on your terms and in your time).

We will meet at the agreed day/time each week or biweekly - the frequency can be discussed and reviewed. I will be a flexible as possible to switch days and times, if a slot is available.
About me
I'm a friendly and compassionate person who will listen and support you in a safe, respectful and confidential manner during our counselling partnership. I believe that our upbringing, environment, challenges and the people we meet in our life have a way of shaping who we 'think' we are. It may be a negative label that family gave you - ‘over sensitive, you’re angry, cold, too quiet, too much…’ or you may have suffered neglect or abuse. These labels and life events can cause you to feel 'not good enough' and deny or repress your feelings.

I volunteered for 18 months with MIND UK which gave me an excellent basis and broad client base to practise as a psychodynamic counsellor.
30+ years of working in a corporate role as a manager and IT professional has provided me with the experience to listen and support others. I understand how workplace demands, stress, conflict and bullying can impact an individual’s mental health. I have training / knowledge in stress management and equality, diversity, and inclusion.
22 years of parenting twins has taught me compassion and lived experience of the challenges that parents face when supporting their children, teens and adolescents face with their mental health: anxiety, depression, self-harm, eating disorders, low self-esteem, ADHD and pressure of social media.
I feel my broad work and life experience enables me to empathise with parents who are balancing work and life alongside caring responsibilities for their children and, or ageing parents, palliative / end of life care - whilst trying to take care of themselves. Or adapting to an empty nest as children become adults.
Menopause research and being post menopausal gives me detailed knowledge of the many debilitating symptoms that women experience and how it impacts every aspect of their life and relationships. I have an affinity to support those going through peri-menopause and menopause.
