About me

Hello, I’m Julie, a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor with a BA (Hons) degree in Person-Centred Counselling and over 10 years’ experience supporting people through difficult and challenging times.

I offer online counselling, allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

Online counselling can be particularly helpful if you find travelling difficult, have a busy lifestyle, feel more comfortable in familiar surroundings, or simply prefer the convenience of speaking with someone from home. There is no need to travel or sit in a waiting room, and sessions can fit more easily around your day.

For some people, being in their own familiar environment can also make it easier to relax and begin talking about things that may feel difficult.

Throughout my career, I have worked with people experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, abuse and work-related stress. I understand that reaching out for counselling can feel daunting, and I aim to provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and be yourself.

My approach is person-centred, which means that I work with you as an individual, rather than making assumptions about what you should do or how you should feel. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to listen, understand and support you as you explore whatever is troubling you.

Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, and you may not know where to start. You don't have to have all the answers before you come to counselling. We can take things at your pace, together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

For the past three years, I have worked as an online counsellor, supporting clients from a wide range of backgrounds with different personal and emotional difficulties.

Working online has given me valuable experience in providing counselling in a way that is accessible, confidential and convenient, while still creating a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship. I understand that opening up to someone can feel difficult, particularly when discussing painful or personal experiences, so I work hard to create an environment where clients feel listened to, respected and accepted without judgement.

During my time as an online counsellor, I have supported clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, abuse, work-related stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and other challenging life circumstances.

I use a person-centred approach, allowing clients to talk about what matters to them and explore their feelings at their own pace. I believe that every person is different, and therefore counselling should be tailored to the individual rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

Over the past three years, I have developed extensive experience of building therapeutic relationships online and helping clients feel comfortable and supported through the counselling process. I have received very positive feedback from clients, including feedback from people who have described their counselling experience as life-changing.

I feel privileged to be able to support people during some of the most difficult periods of their lives, and I aim to offer understanding, compassion and a safe space where clients can be themselves.
