About me

Do you have low self-esteem or feel that you aren't good enough? Have you lost motivation for the things that used to bring you joy in life? Are your relationships suffering and do you find yourself withdrawing or wondering whether life is worth living? Perhaps you are coming to terms with the loss of a loved one or have lost your own sense of self. Over-thinking and anticipating  worst-case scenarios can fuel anxiety and pull you into a downward spiral, leaving you feeling depressed and stuck.

I combine a variety of approaches - including person-centred counselling, CBT, psychodynamic therapy, embodied psychotherapy, mindfulness, ecotherapy  and Equine Assisted therapy - to support you to explore the feelings and experiences that are interfering with your ability to cope with everyday life and preventing you from realising your true potential.

I work holistically with you, to understand the physical and emotional impact of the problems you are dealing with and to help you gain greater self-awareness. We will explore coping strategies so that you can develop resilience to withstand life's challenges and take positive steps towards living the life you deserve, rather than merely existing.

As a BACP Registered Counsellor and Equine Assisted Therapy practitioner, I am qualified to work with adults and young people (minimum age 12 years) across a broad range of issues. I offer room-based, on-line and telephone counselling, but I've also realised that for some individuals, traditional talking therapies aren't suitable. Working outdoors and with horses offers unique experiences in which you can explore connections between yourself and the natural world.

Horses are highly-attuned, sensitive creatures who can act as powerful mirrors to the way you present yourself to your world. Through facilitated interactions with them, you can learn the importance of non-verbal communication, enhance your sense of self and explore the role boundaries can play in creating healthy relationships.

No previous experience of horses is required. And no ridden work is undertaken.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
