About me

Prefix - I always respond to communications within 48 hours - if I have not please text me it means I haven't received your enquiry.

Hello, I am an integrative counsellor with over 10 years of post qualification experience. I work with individuals, couples and students including student counsellors, working both face to face and via video calls. My Framework is person centred and I incorporate other techniques including I techniques mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, plus others to provide tailor made therapy.

I provide a safe, comfortable and non judgemental space where you and your story/narrative can be heard as I walk this part of your journey with you. A place where you can explore your feelings and thought processes, coping mechanisms, their purpose and your responses. To collaboratively work together challenging unhelpful thought patterns and beliefs that are holding you back. To set goals that help you to keep looking forward and mark achievements and progress. to create healthy boundaries that will enable you to be more confident, self assured and have safe relationships with others that don't exhaust you.

I can help you develop skills that enable you to connect with others more easily. People who have worked with me have said that they have better relationships, feel happier, are more relaxed, more confident and feel empowered to make their own choices and able to own their own emotions, and are able to distinguish what and who they are responsible for and who and what they are not responsible for.

on initial contact I will take your name and a rough overview of why you are choosing counselling now, this will be just enough information to see if I can assist you in your requirements. The first appointment is a meet and greet, it consists of us formally introducing ourselves, I will then take contact details and some background details. And we will then look at goals you would like to set for counselling if you already know what these might be - these are initial goals and it maybe you don’t have any set goals at this point in time, that’s absolutely fine we can look at this as part of the process. If you have come with something that requires immediate interventions we will also look at this during the first appointment. Eg. Trouble sleeping, struggling to focus, overwhelming emotions.

All data collected is paper based so can’t be hacked or transmitted. It is stored in locked cabinets in a locked room that has limited access restricted to me and the person designated should anything happen to me.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
