About me
Hello,
My name is Josie. I specialise in relationship and dating difficulties, including, break-ups, jealousy, limerence, unhealthy or unhappy relationships, overcoming fear of abandonment, or fear of commitment.
Have you ever wondered why you react, think and feel the way that you do?
Do you struggle in relationships with others, or in the relationship you have with yourself?
Often how we think, feel and behave in relationships has links to much deeper issues which can feel confusing and scary when we don't understand what is happening.
My specialisms include:
- Healing from feelings of insecurity in relationships, whether you feel anxious, avoidant, or a mixture of both (focusing on attachment styles).
- Recovering from break-ups and navigating single life.
- Improving your current romantic relationship, or relationships with friends
- Dealing with feelings of jealousy, including about a partner's past (also known as retroactive jealousy).
- Addressing intense romantic feelings or obsessive thoughts about someone (including limerence).
- Understanding and improving difficult or unhealthy relationship patterns.
- Overcoming fear of abandonment, and/or fear of commitment and getting close to others.
- Building self-worth and self-love.
- Recovering from co-dependent, and/or unhealthy relationships.
I provide a safe and supportive space to help you to understand yourself, to feel more self-confident, to increase your self worth, and to have happier and healthier relationships with other people as well as with yourself.
I work with adults throughout the UK via Zoom or telephone. If you email me, please check your spam/junk folder for a reply.

- I am a qualified Health Professional Registered with The Nursing and Midwifery Council
I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. I am dedicated to working in a trauma-informed, non-pathologising, and non-stigmatising manner. Instead of viewing you through the lens of “what is wrong with you?” I focus on “what happened to you?” I understand that our behaviours are often shaped by what we have needed to do to keep ourselves safe, or to try to meet our needs in some way.
I am an Integrative practitioner and this means that I am able to respect your unique needs by drawing upon a range of psycho-therapeutic approaches. I work in a 'relational' way focusing on us building a strong and supportive relationship where you feel heard and understood.
I mainly draw upon the Psychodynamic and Transactional Analysis modalities in my work.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy - is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on exploring the psychological roots of emotional suffering. It emphasises understanding the influence of our childhood on present behaviour and aims to help individuals gain insight into their deep-seated feelings and unresolved conflicts.
Transactional Analysis - is a form of psychotherapy that examines interactions (transactions) between individuals to understand and improve communication and relationships. There are often repetitive, unconscious patterns of behaviour that people play out in their interactions and this form of therapy helps to identify and understand these.
Experience
I have a diverse professional background, having worked in various settings such as the NHS, the prison and police sectors, and volunteer work with Samaritans and with adults experiencing homelessness.
- Private Practice Counsellor (Present)
- Counsellor for The Mindspace Foundation (Past)
- Counsellor for Trust House Reading (Past) - specialising in supporting survivors of rape and sexual abuse.
Professional membership
I'm a Registered Member (MBACP) of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (register no. 408041) and I am fully insured.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
