About me
Sexual abuse support
I have worked with survivors of childhood sexual abuse across a range of contexts, including institutional abuse, abuse by known associates, and attacks by strangers, and with clients harmed by both male and female perpetrators.
Outdoor therapy
Instead of working indoors, I can also support you in outdoor, natural spaces in and around the Bingley area of West Yorkshire.
If you want to work outside, I actively involve the setting as a third party in the work. This isn't 'walk and talk' therapy; I will ask you to consider what the space is saying to you and how it is communicating with you. Doing this uses the space as a second therapist, and creates additional opportunities for reflection, meaning-making, challenge, and support.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a post-graduate diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Leeds Beckett University, as well as a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies.
Since qualifying, I have undertaken training in Understanding Therapeutic Practice in Outdoor Natural Spaces with The Centre for Natural Reflection. This training has enabled me to use and maximise the value of outdoor space as a third party in the therapeutic process, as well as appropriately and safely support clients in an outdoor setting.
I am currently completing a certificate in Person-centred Experiential Counselling for Depression, a modality used in NHS Talking Therapies.
I work at a charity supporting male and non-binary survivors of sexual harm and have previously worked in a Marie Curie Hospice, and Leeds Prison.
I used to be a volunteer listener with the Samaritans.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
My therapy space always contains creative materials for client use. This enables exploration and expression of experience and emotion in ways other than talking. Many of my clients have found value and benefit in this opportunity.
