About me
Life can quietly wear you down — low mood, stress, anxiety, the sense that you're running on empty and can't quite get back to yourself. Whatever's weighing on you, you don't have to carry it alone. The struggles that bring people to therapy are rarely just about substances or behaviours. More often they're woven through everyday life — work, relationships, and emotional pain shaped by the experiences we carry.
I'm Joanna, a Recovery Coach and Counsellor supporting people through trauma, low mood, anger, depression, anxiety and addiction. My approach is warm, calm and without judgement, so you can feel genuinely able to be honest, perhaps for the first time.
I've spent 14 years working within mental health and addiction, supporting adults through some of the most difficult periods of their lives. I'm a BACP-registered counsellor, qualified to level 5, with additional training in trauma-informed practice / NLP. That experience has taught me that lasting change rarely comes from willpower alone — it comes from understanding what's really driving things. Often that means gently processing the past and making sense of it, so the experiences that have shaped you no longer quietly shape your present.
As an integrative therapist, I draw on Person-Centred Therapy, CBT and NLP, so our work isn't only about insight but about real, practical change you can feel day to day. Whether you're facing addiction, the weight of trauma or depression, anger that's hard to manage, or simply a sense of being stuck, we'll work to understand it and gently shift it. Above all, I aim to offer a space where you feel safe, understood, and never judged. Taking the first step can feel daunting, and there's no pressure to have it all worked out before you reach out.
When you're ready, I'd be glad to hear from you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is troubling you. My work is rooted in the belief that people have the capacity to understand themselves, grow, and create meaningful change when given the right support and environment.
As an integrative therapist, I combine Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and NLP, tailoring our work to your individual needs. This allows us to explore both the underlying causes of your difficulties and practical ways of moving forward. Whether you're struggling with addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, relationship difficulties, or feeling stuck, our work will be guided by your goals, your pace, and what feels most helpful to you.
I work in a trauma-informed way, paying close attention to safety, choice, and collaboration throughout the therapeutic process. Alongside traditional talking therapy, I can also incorporate Walk & Talk sessions and Virtual Reality (VR) where appropriate.
I offer a free 20-minute introductory telephone call, giving us the opportunity to discuss what brings you to therapy and whether we feel like a good fit to work together.
Choosing the right counsellor is important, and I want you to feel comfortable and informed before making any commitment.
