About me

I'm here to help with any challenges you face. We can work together to understand what is going on for you right now, then we can look at any patterns of behaviour or links to past experiences.  As the work continues we can focus on your long-term goals and help you move to where you want to be.

If you consider yourself a people pleaser or are struggling with anxiety this can lead to difficulties in relationships and your sense of self. If you are feeling overwhelmed, distressed or disconnected, now might be the time to get in touch.

Life can feel intense sometimes and if you'd like to start exploring what's caused this confusion and vulnerability, contact me for a free 20 minute online consultation.

UNDERSTANDING THE THERAPY PROCESS

I can help with anxiety, grief, depression, low self esteem, relationship difficulties, family estrangement, emotional and physical trauma as well as a variety of other issues.  I work in an integrative way, helping you to voice your concerns and think about the way forward.

You've taken the first step by searching for a therapist; if you're ready to start making a change in your life, then I'd be happy to hear from you!

ABOUT ME

I'm a BACP Accredited therapist who has years of experience with a variety of clients who bring a wide range of presenting issues.  My practice provides opportunities for both online and face to face sessions.  I am friendly and supportive, understanding the need for a combination of kindness and challenge at different parts of your therapeutic process.

Whilst I can help with many different issues, my training, my client work and my personal experiences make me ideally placed to help with gender identity, family estrangement and birthtrauma/babyloss.

GENDER IDENTITY ISSUES

Non binary and transgender identity
Intersex individuals
Gender dysphoria
Relationship and sexuality issues
Gender fluidity
Issues relating to social, hormonal and physical/surgical transitioning.

We live in a world where tolerance and understanding is not always forthcoming and members of the queer community are increasingly at risk from prejudice and ignorance.

If you would benefit from a supportive, safe and non-judgmental space to discuss how your gender identity or sexuality is affecting your day to day life, then please get in touch.

FAMILY ESTRANGEMENT

It is a big decision to break contact with members of your own family and not everyone understands this.  If relatives have made it difficult for you to make your own choices in life and you know your decisions will be met with disapproval, judgment and humiliation then it is understandable that you will want to disconnect from them to protect your own peace.

It's incredibly helpful and validating to be able to discuss this with a therapist who allows space for your feelings and decisions to be explored and understood without pressure to reconnect.  Being gaslit and suffering years of emotional abuse or manipulation can leave you feeling afraid and vulnerable.  Therapy can help re-empower you and give you confidence in your own decisions.

CHILDLOSS, BIRTH TRAUMA, STILLBIRTH & INFERTILITY

Infertility,
Miscarriage, Stillbirth, Traumatic childbirth experience,
Medical termination, Unwanted pregnancy,
Neo natal death,
Sudden death (including cot death).

The grief of losing a child, or never being able to have a child, can be overwhelming and I provide a safe, neutral space for you to process this.

Each person's experience is different and I will support you while you work through your grief and repercussions of your loss.

I can support grandparents, siblings and other family members who might be struggling with their own response to this loss.

THERAPY RELATING TO NEURODIVERSITY

Awareness of neurodiversity is increasing and whether diagnosed, or undiagnosed, many people are now linking their thoughts and behaviours to autism (ASD), ADHD, ADD, ODD and OCD.

As a BACP Accredited Therapist, I have worked with people of various ages who are seeking some understanding of their condition or disorder. Processing a diagnosis or simply starting to recognise neurodiverse tendencies can be challenging. I work with the individual, meeting their needs through accommodations to sessions where necessary or I can work with family members or carers who are supporting people with neurodiversity.

WORRIED ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE?

I can offer support to parents/carers/family members of children with SEND or of teens who are going through challenging times such as self-harming, OCD or gender dysphoria.

WHAT NEXT?

You've taken the first step by searching for a therapist; this is a big decision and it's important to find someone you feel comfortable with. I offer a free 20-minute online consultation, allowing you to chat with me in confidence without obligation, to make sure I'm the right therapist for you.

I am usually able to respond to new enquiries within just a couple of hours.  An initial consultation could be arranged within a few days and (depending on finding a time to suit us both) you could have a regular weekly therapy session starting as soon as next week.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
