About me
Hi, I’m Jo, an Integrative Psychotherapist, Registered Midwife, and Specialist Bereavement Midwife. I work in private practice in Reigate, Surrey, and Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, offering both face-to-face and online sessions. I am a registered member of the BACP, NMC, and RCM, which means I adhere to recognised professional and ethical standards, providing reassurance that the care and support you receive is safe and accountable.
I have over 25 years of experience working across NHS and private settings, supporting adults with a wide range of emotional difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, low self-esteem, and grief. Much of my experience has naturally focused on women’s health and reproductive experiences, though my practice warmly welcomes anyone seeking support, whatever has brought you to therapy.
Across my career, my work has often centred around experiences such as baby loss, miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal loss, pregnancy after loss, traumatic birth, infertility, IVF journeys, pregnancy-related anxiety, early parenthood, and the emotional impact of perimenopause and menopause. While I have particular expertise in these areas, I also support adults facing many other life challenges. My dual background in psychotherapy and midwifery gives me a deep understanding of the emotional, physical, and relational effects these experiences and life challenges in general can have. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or unsure how to make sense of what has happened, especially when their grief or trauma feels unseen or misunderstood.
I work integratively and relationally, drawing on Petrūska Clarkson’s relational model. I place the therapeutic relationship at the centre of our work because the way we relate to others, past and present shapes how we move through the world. Early attachment experiences and significant relationships can heavily influence how we react, feel, and navigate the here and now. Together, we can explore these patterns with care and curiosity, helping you understand yourself more deeply.
My approach is informed by attachment theory, psychodynamic thinking, and existential perspectives but is always tailored to you rather than following a single method. Whether you’re feeling stuck, anxious, uncertain about your identity, or caught in familiar patterns, therapy can offer space to reflect, make connections, and move forward in a way that feels authentic and manageable.
Above all, I provide a calm, compassionate, and confidential space where you can speak openly, feel supported, and begin to heal at your own pace. I offer both short-term and longer-term counselling, which we can review together as your needs evolve.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have extensive experience working within NHS services across Yorkshire, London, and Surrey. Much of my work has naturally focused on women and birthing people, but I have also supported partners and wider family members, giving me experience with a broad range of emotional and relational issues. I work exclusively with adults of all ages, and my background includes holding senior posts within the NHS, reflecting both the depth and breadth of my clinical experience.
I now work in private practice as both a psychotherapist and an independent midwife, combining my skills to support adults and families through a wide range of emotional and reproductive experiences. I also hold a specialist midwife role with a leading baby charity in the UK, supporting families through pregnancy, baby loss, and early parenthood. Across my career, my work has often centred on experiences such as baby loss, miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal loss, pregnancy after loss, traumatic birth, infertility, IVF journeys, pregnancy-related anxiety, early parenthood, and the emotional impact of perimenopause and menopause. While I have particular expertise in these areas, I also support adults facing many other life challenges. My dual background in psychotherapy and midwifery gives me a deep understanding of the emotional, physical, and relational effects these experiences and life challenges in general can have.
I work with adults of all backgrounds who are facing life challenges and would value a warm, supportive, and compassionate space to reflect, feel heard, and work through what’s on their mind.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
When we first meet, we’ll begin with an initial consultation to explore what you’re experiencing and what you might need from therapy. Because everyone’s situation is unique, I don’t set a fixed number of sessions in advance. Instead, we’ll decide together what feels appropriate for you after the assessment. If you’re working within a specific budget or have limited funding, we can discuss this and adapt the therapy to suit your circumstances.
