About me

Perhaps you’ve spent so much of your life being who everyone else needed you to be that somewhere along the way, you’ve lost touch with yourself.

You may be someone who appears capable and holds everything together, while underneath you’re struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism or a sense that you don’t quite fit. You may find it difficult to put yourself first, set boundaries or even know what you really want.

Sometimes a significant life experience or transition brings these feelings to the surface - menopause, relationship difficulties, divorce, bereavement, trauma, changes within the family, or simply reaching a point where the life you’ve built no longer feels quite right.

I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you don’t need to have the answers. Together, we can become curious about your experiences, the patterns you’ve developed and the things that have shaped how you see yourself and relate to others.

My approach is integrative, which means I can draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on you and what you need. Our work may involve exploring what is happening in your life now, understanding how past experiences and relationships continue to affect you, and gently working through patterns that may no longer be serving you.

I have a particular interest in working with women around identity, self-worth, anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, boundaries and significant life transitions. I also have experience supporting clients through grief and loss, trauma, relationship difficulties and other challenging experiences.

I work with women of all faiths and none. You don’t need to share my Christian faith to work with me; your own beliefs, values and worldview will always be respected.

I offer counselling in person in Aberdeen and online.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Integrative Counselling with a Christian Perspective and am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

My integrative training draws on Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches. This allows me to work flexibly rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

I also have training and experience in life coaching. This complements my counselling work and my interest in helping women not only understand and heal from what has shaped them, but also consider how they want to move forward.

I undertake regular professional supervision and ongoing professional development as part of my commitment to safe, ethical and reflective practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I know that choosing a counsellor can feel daunting, and finding someone you feel comfortable with matters.

I offer a free online 15–20 minute initial consultation by telephone. This gives us an opportunity to talk briefly about what has brought you to counselling, what you’re hoping for and whether we feel we could work well together. There is no obligation to continue.

Sessions are available in person in Aberdeen or online.
